I hated Tebow in college because he killed my team, the Vols. I'm a huge fan of his in the pros though. I love rooting for underdogs and watching him play for the Broncos last season was a lot of fun. I was kinda looking forward to that this year. Hopefully they trade Orton.

I don't think proselytizing is charity.
I think the guy gets extra attention because he is a wholesome christian that is overly vocal about his beliefs, and people go out of their way to defend him. They don't defend him because of his play. They overly hype his accomplishments. They wan't to talk about him as if he is the best football player in the world just because of his beliefs.
Anyway I think that is the perception, and the source of the hate. People got real sick of hearing about him.

What accomplishments are over hyped? TT was one of the best college QBs to play the game. His skills may not translate to the NFL (yet to be seen) but in college, TT was an absolute stud. I watched him torment my favorite team for four years. If anyone should have "hate" for him, it would be me. LOL

There are so many douchebags that play sports, yet people are going to hate on TT. That really amazes me as a rational person, but whatever. People, in general, are stupid when it comes to hero worship anyway.

So i don't get what you are saying by people make him out to be the greatest football player to ever live. He was an absolute beast in college and i really don't think anyone will deny that. I believe most bash him because of the way he is overly forward not because its a differant lifestyle so the second part is a moot point.
He is more then free to live however he likes.

Yeah I hear ya. When I think about it I think its just the media oversaturization thing. Me being an atheist and the over prostelysing doesn't help either, but its his right. I just wish he didnt bring it into the games as much as he does. I havn't seen him play in the NFL too much so not sure if thats still his line. I remember talk about that sort of thing not flying in NFL locker rooms.

Tebow was the easiest bust pick I've ever made since I started making one each year in '98. (all first rounders). It almost shouldn't count as getting one right it was so easy.

McDaniels did him a huge disservice drafting him in round 1. I agree with the fact that he's probably a nice guy and it's really not his fault where he got drafted, but that doomed him, IMO.

I may be alone here, but I think Tebow can be a successful NFL QB. He definitely has the support of his teammates, and has done virtually nothing wrong off the field. And to people who think he is over hyping himself, the media is at fault there. They are the ones shoving cameras in his face 24/7 trying to make him say the wrong things, and over and over he says the right thing. Here, he says he is unhappy with what happened, and the media jumped all over it. Not a big deal.

I want to root for Tebow. I really like what he stands for, even though it has a bit of religious propaganda mixed in. However, he doesn't have the arm or the accuracy to excel in the NFL.

In the modern NFL Tebow kind of stands out. In the generation of duis, offfield incidents, comments by Adrian Peterson of 11mil a year being slave wages, and all the other things. Tebow is probably media hyped for being a relativly wholesome kid. I like him, I don't know if we will have any success in the NFL but I will root for him. As for his religion more power to him. People may attack him for his faith but realistically I've seen aetheist be just as vocal pushing their views as he is with his faith. Whatever someone wants to believe is up to them. And as long as they aren't affecting me, or launching terrorist attacks more power to them. As for NFL ability if they brought in someone to work with him he could grow into a Mark Brunell or a poor mans Steve Young.

No player drafted in the first round has no ability. The kid can play. Now whether or not his play translates to the NFL level is the question mark.

I don't understand how people can perceive attacks on Tebow to be due to his faith or as attacks on his faith when maybe a majority of NFL players are devout christains and regularly talk about the importance god and religion have had in shaping their career, life, and success. God gets a shout-out in probably 90% of post-game interviews, god is either the 1st or second (along with parents) thing players point to when they talk about what's made them great.

And yet Tebow stands alone when it comes to criticism. Its everything else about Tebow that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. He reminds me little of Singletary with his 'my way or the highway' approach. He absolutely insists on being a leader, which is okay, but when you're the 2nd/3rd string QB and a rookie/sophomore - and you haven't done spit at the NFL level- then you need to listen, learn and get with the program.

Also, I think his biggest enemy is the fact that he's the most famous player on his team just because the south worships football players. That's not something he has any control over but i'm sure it gets under the skin of a lot of people. And since he's been that famous, everyone's been exposed to him too much- we all saw his friends at the draft party who were wearing the exact same aqua polos, we all heard about his failed attempt to lead his team in prayer before one of the college all-star games, and we all hear about his lack of NFL-ability, which should be a non-story. Again, not his fault, but not something i want to deal with anymore either.
