We have similar arguments on the Colts forums. So many people dislike Brissett big time. He throws mostly dump off passes. He doesn't read past 2 receivers. He's not Luck. People have been calling to start Chad Kelly who is on the practice squad. Our injuries have been Hooker, Leonard, Funchess, Hilton, Desir and others. I've been fairly happy with Brissett. His ceiling is low, yes, but at least he isn't a turnover machine and as long as the coach doesn't scheme a "Luck" type of offense, he will win games. I think Rudolph could/is similar.

I agree with you about Mason. He can be and I believe he will be a very good starting QB in the next year or two and if given the time to learn from Ben, that will do nothing but improve his level of play and understanding of professional football. Rudolph is not going to be Ben, he's not going to be a gunslinger and he's not going to be the QB that throws for 4,000+ yards every season. But he's very good with his decision making, he's accurate and he can make a play when the pocket collapses. He's the 3rd least sacked QB in the league, he's 5th in the league in TD %, 15th highest QB rating, 11th in comp %. It can be MUCH worse at the QB spot than what it is right now and this is a kid who's never played in a regular season game and has never thrown an NFL pass until Week 2 this year.

With that said, I disagree about the comparison in injuries. You can't compare Indy's injuries to Pitt's aside from losing our starting QB. Hooker and Leonard are on the defensive side of the ball and while we've had injuries on that front as well, it hasn't been as severe as our injuries on the offensive side of the ball. Your starting RB and TE and Brissett have played every game this season for you guys.

Brissett certainly has been a surprise to me, I'll tell you that. I didn't expect this team to be as good as it's has been all year. I thought it was gonna be 2017 all over again for you guys.

Eh, I dunno.

The defense is in a whole different world now than it was week 1.

Without Ben, came within a play of beating the Ravens, who just beat the Pats.

This team would be competitive if we could add Ben back in.

I could see like 11-5 and winning division

But, against the Pats? nope

Agree. But curious, what have u seen that warrants any positive feelings

Youth and lack of experience mostly, he doesnt throw deep often, but he doesnt miss his targets when he does.

Plus, we dont know what the coaches are telling him.

Fichtner could be telling him check one route and dump if its not 3rd and long. I guess we will see if he starts going deeper.

Other teams arent going to let him do that forever, they will start triple teaming the back

im sorry i just cant buy the youth and lack of experience factor. He is not a rookie. Also, how many rookies now a days come in and play far superior to what hes doing, right away. How many back ups arent experienced and step in and do decent.

But ur right fichnter could be telling him that. I just watch his reads, his footwork, his ability to manipulate the pocket, ability to move in the pocket.........its all atrocious......his ability in the pocket and to manipulate it is terrible

I disagree. Losing Funchess in the first game was huge because there isn't much left after Hilton since Fountain was lost for the season. Then Hilton gets injured. Campbell had been injured. Kelly at center is injured. Lost Luck and Brissett gets injured. Hooker, Desir and Leonard are the 3 best defensive players. I'm not sure why losing defensive players isn't big. It is for the Colts.

Mason's stats for balls traveling greater than or equal to 10yds...

Week 2: 3/6
Week 3: 2/8
Week 4: 3/4
Week 5: 4/9
Week 8: 8/21
Week 9: Haven't seen these stats yet.

Out of the 5 games we have stats for, he is 41.7% (20/48) passing 10yds or more downfield.

Mason Rudolph ranks 49th out of 64 passers (QBs, WRs, RBs, Ks, Ps) in average yds per attempt. Out of the players with more than 100 attempts (to weed out the riff raff), he ranks ahead of only Darnold, D Jones & Trubisky. It gets worse... In "air yards per attempt" he is averaging 2.8yds, which is dead last. Worse than Trubisky & Darnold.

With Ben...do they make this bold move to get Fitz? If yes, I think they could've gotten into the dance and won a couple of games with Ben...maybe on beating NE. If no, probably the same regular season record but maybe a home win if they won the DIV....the DEF as built prior to Fitz, was better than LY, but imo not good enough to get to the AFCCG.

no, i expect our 2nd string QB, whose in his second year, learning under a HOF qb, who we had a 1st round grade on, to be passable.

I dont get it man. Your whole argument comes down to we lost our starting qb. PERIOD. Again, other offenses can lose their starter, and click. Why cant' our 1st round graded QB with some starts under his belt, and time to learn, throw more than 3 yards? But Brandon Allen can? or Kyle allen. Or gardner minshew who 1.5 years ago, his goal in life was to go to bama and party. Matt moore whose 16-16 in his career can come in and win and throw downfield. yes 16-16 in 10 years, so NO HE WASNT A STARTER MOST OF THOSE YEARS. I mean for god sake, cj beatheard and nick mullens made some noise with a horrid offensive cast. This is the biggest pass.

And don't forget, he was lead cheerleader that stated he was ready to move on from Ben!!!!

It would have cost more. But they were mentioned as interested parties before Ben went down.

That 1st was seen as more valuable to Miami after Ben was IRed.

Could someone tell Nicholas Dick, I mean Richard the Ravens won, and I thought the reason for playing in the NFL was to win championships, not be the best mediocre team the NFL has to offer.

That's my point...sure MIA saw the value of PIT's 1st round pick rise when Ben went down...would PIT have paid the price if Ben hadn't gone down? I'm not sure they would've.

True enough. We can't know.

Minkah was certainly worth what he cost, and would be worth more, if necessary. He was a critical missing piece.

Probably not since it was most likely going to include additional higher picks. That 1st round pick value skyrocketed in value as soon as Ben was holding his elbow.

So...maybe Ben going down was a blessing in disguise because IDT they would've invested more than just a 1st to get him.

I didn't say losing defensive players wasn't big, but the conversation is about offensive injuries and how our offense can't work as a well oiled machine with so many moving and injured parts. You've had the same starting RB, TE and QB every game this year. I don't think you can compare the two.
