He tends to collapse under pressure. I don't know if that can be fixed. Turtles and/or rushes when stressed. I don't think the hamster is running full speed in his head, either.

It's the kind of thing we've made fun of other QB's around the league for. We should be able to recognize it here.

If he can't stand tall behind this line, he'll have a rough time going forward. This is about as good as it gets.
History proves it can't. Look how many "great" college QB's never get past that and just to name two that were first overall picks: David Carr and Tim Couch.

Hence why your other post a guy like Hodges is good in these scenarios. Ala.. Matt Moore no fear but really not that great. Just good enough to wet whistle but as soon as it runs dry they go back to the bench.

The issue I have with Bud Dupree is let someone else pay that monster contract, this screams Vic Beasley.
I'm also concerned with that. Take the 3rd round comp and wish him well.

It's still going to be a huge hole in the roster when he leaves.

Seems I'm higher on Mason than anyone else posting in this thread, so ill just leave it at that.

Is he going to develop into a top 5 franchise QB? I doubt it. But its not like we could have rolled into Gillette this January and knocked out the Patriots with Ben in there.

Very true. If Tuitt and Watt stay healthy a whole season I think you can fill that void elsewhere. With that I feel the Steelers will Dupree thinking he fits their scheme perfectly.

Oh without a doubt. Tomlin has zero capabilities as a head coach to beat the Pats.
Trust me not that I am down on Rudolph but not sure they should bank their future on him with the young talent they have on both sides of the field. It is really killing the Bears right now putting all their eggs in the Trubisky basket. Same will hold true for the Jets with Darnold and possibly the hype machine Mayfield.

Eh, I dunno.

The defense is in a whole different world now than it was week 1.

Without Ben, came within a play of beating the Ravens, who just beat the Pats.

This team would be competitive if we could add Ben back in.

no, i expect our 2nd string QB, whose in his second year, learning under a HOF qb, who we had a 1st round grade on, to be passable.

You expect our 2nd string QB, who is in his 2nd year and hasn't thrown a pass in a regular season game, to be better than he is right now? Not to mention, the dude had a concussion 3 weeks ago. I think you're expecting a bit much from him.

I dont get it man. Your whole argument comes down to we lost our starting qb. PERIOD. Again, other offenses can lose their starter, and click. Why cant' our 1st round graded QB with some starts under his belt, and time to learn, throw more than 3 yards? But Brandon Allen can? or Kyle allen. Or gardner minshew who 1.5 years ago, his goal in life was to go to bama and party. Matt moore whose 16-16 in his career can come in and win and throw downfield. yes 16-16 in 10 years, so NO HE WASNT A STARTER MOST OF THOSE YEARS. I mean for god sake, cj beatheard and nick mullens made some noise with a horrid offensive cast. This is the biggest pass.

It's like you haven't even read a single thing that I've said.

Ben Roethlisberger (QB1), Mason Rudolph (QB2), James Conner (RB1), Jaylen Samuels (RB2), Benny Snell (RB3), Vance McDonald (TE1) and James Washington (WR2) have ALL missed games this year. It's hard for an offense to gel when there are key pieces of the offense missing every week. Name me a team that has lost not only QB1 for the entire year, but QB2, RB1, RB2, RB3, TE1 and WR2 for multiple games and still had a well functioning offense. Our offense is trash, but to me, that's understandable seeing how many moving parts we've had all year long due to injuries.

Here's a list of all of the offensive guys (not including O-Linemen) who have played at least 1 snap in every game for us this year:

Diontae Johnson
JuJu Smith-Schuster
Johnny Holton
Ryan Switzer

That's it. Literally EVERY OTHER offensive player (once again, not including O-Linemen) has missed at least 1 full game. The story of this season is going to be injuries, regardless of what our record is. And this is why I refuse to put the blame on Fichtner for the way this offense is right now.

Before, you couldn’t figure out how. Always were in arguments with ppl on this board. Now I see it.

I guess we give mason the 3-4 year plan.

every team has injuries! U think this is isolated?? Come on dude. The packers have had a billion offensive injuries, new coach. Again I can find many teams with many injuries .

I think it's foolish to expect much from Mason this year.

No team has had the injuries that we have had this year. The Packers are a shit comparison as they still have their starting QB.

I couldn't care less anymore. It is what it is at this point. As long as things aren't made personal, I don't give a shit.

So how many years to you give a qb to develop? Or show anything? Specially ones with round 1 grades?

Yeah I don’t really care either u continuously move goal posts. @PhoenixEagles1 see I did it there

I don't expect much from a 2nd string QB who's never thrown a pass in the league. If given the time to learn from Ben, 2-3 years max before he's ready to be a starter. He's had 1 year, never thrown a pass and was thrown to the wolves. Sorry, but he's probably not gonna perform very well. Not everyone can be Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady and just perform amazingly out the gate. We gave him a round 1 grade but that doesn't mean he's round 1 talent and we obviously didn't think he was good enough to take round 1 or round 2.

I've yet to move the goal posts. My sole argument has been we've had too many injuries on the offensive side of the ball to run on all cylinders. I've said that from the get go. Why h ave we had to rely on Mason? Injuries. Why have we had to start our 3rd string, undrafted rookie QB? Injuries. It's gonna be the theme of this season, win or lose.

Meh. Brissett has been very good.
He also throws mostly short yardage passes. Takes care of the ball but not much more. He may be Rudolph 2.0 because he started a season in 2017 and has been in the league a few years, but he can only read 2 receivers at most. Telegraphs who he is going to throw to and doesn't see deep.

We have similar arguments on the Colts forums. So many people dislike Brissett big time. He throws mostly dump off passes. He doesn't read past 2 receivers. He's not Luck. People have been calling to start Chad Kelly who is on the practice squad. Our injuries have been Hooker, Leonard, Funchess, Hilton, Desir and others. I've been fairly happy with Brissett. His ceiling is low, yes, but at least he isn't a turnover machine and as long as the coach doesn't scheme a "Luck" type of offense, he will win games. I think Rudolph could/is similar.

You mean another team lost their starting an, and has a ton of injuries on offense? Your tight ends and running backs have been banged up too.
