Pujols would much rather hit into a double play than strikeout at this stage of his career. If he starts catching up to fastballs again, he might have a few 'Pujols-like' seasons left

yeah obviously his numbers are declining as he gets older. i would have thought he would have gotten 100 strikeouts last year, but he finished considerably short. people think last year was awful for him, he still finished with an ops plus around 140. still a great year by a normal player's standards

My memories of George Brett and Robin Yount are good enough to put them on this list but I'm not sure about their HR total.

wow, not as short as i thought. 317 for brett. wow i am suprised he had that many, i always thought of him as a high average-low home run numbers type guy

Brett is definitely a guy that wouldve been a beast in the steroid era

i mean, i never got to see the guy play, but i can imagine. i sometimes wonder how some players would have fared if they took ped's (not that i think they are some magical portion, but they do significantly help a player). if schmidt hit 548 home runs (presumably clean- expect he said he did some methamphetamines early in his career) he probably could have hit 620-650 on steroids

This should be pretty easy as there are probably only around 50 players that have hit 400 HRs or more, and there are quite a few on that list you can throw about pretty quickly like Canseco and McGwire.

I'll go with Piazza on an almost definite guess and Junior as a longshot.

HA! I thought someone did mention him, apparently if I see the name Ruth followed by any other name, my mind immediately inserts Gehrig.

Chipper Jones for a fact never struck out more than 100 times.

Name the 10 players in MLB history who have hit 400 career homers, have a .300 lifetime batting average, and have never struck out 100 times in a season. You can name them one at a time. Don't look it up, it ruins the fun
I'm certain about:
Stan Musial
Ted Williams
Lou Gehrig
Mel Ott

Not quite as certain about:
Hank Aaron
Jimmie Foxx
Frank Robinson
Willie Mays
Frank Thomas
Carl Yastrzemski
Frank Thomas
Johnny Mize
Vlad Guerrero

That's all I can think of without looking it up. It's also 13 guys, so I'm sure a few are wrong, but I wanted to take a stab at it all at once.

And Pujols, though I feel like he might have struck out 100 times last year.
