We have thee best steaks in the country.

I'm not a big fan of corn personally. Used to be, but not so much anymore.

I will say that our sweet corn with some butter and salt is a must have at your dinner table at family get togethers etc.

And I actually am a huge fan of cheese. Just not that wisconsin garbage.
I hope you're not talking about Omaha Steaks. Those are frozen crap.

And my point was that corn grown in the middle of the country, in your dry climate, is not as good as our local corn grown near the ocean in the Hamptons (it's native to the Northeast).

Also, Tillamook is a brand not a style of cheese (which is made in quantities too large to be any good), and you can't buy real Camembert in the U.S. (the real thing is unpasteurized, which FDA won't allow). "Pepper jack" is an abomination.

Personally I like sharper, more pungent cheeses like Taleggio, bucheron, scharf maxx, monte enebro. But a good clothbound cheddar, a gruyere or an Etivaz are also great cheese.

I love living near this place...
Murrays' Cheese Shop - Gourmet & Artisan Cheese Gifts By Mail

The problem is that good cheese is expensive (up to $20-$30 per lb) and hard to find in most grocery stores. Need a specialty shop or a Whole Foods.

"omaha steaks" don't even come from Nebraska for the most part.

They have steaks shipped in from all over the country and hell no I am not talking about that monkey meat.

We have a personal butcher who gets us the good stuff from certain local farms.

It is (outside of kobe) the best beef in the world.

LOL

Omaha Steaks (the shipping company) is for suckers. Anything frozen and thawed loses quality :L They also have lower end product and higher end product.

Brasky is referring to fresh cut served in local steak-houses (not chains) or what I can get from the butcher.

Regarding corn, I've had east coast corn and it don't hold a candle to corn grown in the central US. Our soil is better. If you had corn in western Nebraska I can see your point but that is sandhills and open ranchland. The best 'flavored' corn is grown in Iowa and eastern Nebraska.

What are you talking about? No one makes steaks from dairy cattle.

Yes I know there's a lot of ranch country from Texas up to Nebraska/Wyoming. I was just hoping to god you weren't talking about the brand Omaha Steaks. Those are crap.

LOL @ confusing feed corn with sweet corn.

I'm not. Just saying the sweet corn is better around here, at least from eastern Long Island. I've lived in Illinois and eaten a lot of Midwest corn.

I buy a half every 6 months or so from a buddy up in Boyd. They are grass fed until about 3 months prior to going to the butcher. They are feed corn fed the last 3 months of their life.

Me either. LMAO

I've never sent them as a gift package either. I send Harry and David gift packages over the holidays.

Every fancy shmancey ethnic restaurant in this country uses Wisconsin cheese. Fact. Wisconsin cheese wins damn near every award at the expo over in Europe every year. Fact. Wisconsin makes like 75% of the cheese made in America. Fact.

We are the greatest state ever because of our cheese.
