The winter classic is NOT included in Pens STH packages. We get 40 home games and 2 preseason games. The winter classic is a whole different animal. We (as an sth) are assigned seats which we can buy if we want. The 150$ per ticket mine cost is it. We weren't charged for a 41st home game originally.

Also the NHL is in charge of ticketing, the penguins and the capitals have no say in setting costs, availability etc... from what i understand.

shhhh

I am trying to mess with Pixburghers head :D

I think lost in all of this is the fact that Pens' fans will get to see their team play in a SECOND Winter Classic while the majority of the fanbases in the NHL have seen their team play in exactly ZERO. And every Pens' season ticket and partial plan holder CAN get a seat and there will be more available to the public. You guys should be psyched all around!

It doesn't suck so much that the Caps' fans are getting this opportunity as much as the NHL should have given Pens' fans more than 5,000 tickets a few years back (in a stadium with huge capacity no less). But hey, it was the NHL's first time on the merry-go-round with this, so they learn as they go. They botched it.

As to the future, doesn't the way they are doing it this year make more sense moving forward?

yes and no. yes that there sharing the opportunity, no that they're charging that much to pens STH and that they don't change the price based on the seat. they're trying to do it like it's a hockey arena, but it's not.

If I come across tickets, I will sell them to one of you freaks.....

What really sucks is the awful old Caps logo that loco is forced to put under his avatar because Ghost has not updated since the Jagr days

:)

Couldn't it also be viewed as a reward for those STH paying the big bucks?

I'm just saying there seems to be a lot of half-empty here while the glass looks about 3/4 full.

Eh...I'm okay with my crap seats (they are very high, but one section off the 50 yard line); I don't care too much about the quality of the seat. I just feel bad for some of my friends who are super excited about it, but have to depend on a lottery to get tickets. I at least wish they were doing first come first serve.

Ugh, I am with you there.

I used to love sleeping out overnight to get my Tech student tickets and now they have a stupid ass lottery. I mean, I am graduated and all, so i just buy season tix, but still, I miss it for the kids that are there. Those nights were almost as fun as tailgating.

46, i agree with you...because half of the fun was getting there and fighting for your spot, but you KNOW when you get there it's first come, first serve. just seems fair.
