What about a Blues/Wings game? I think it would be easy to market the game with the rivalry as well as the fact that it's pretty much veterans against a much younger, but talented squad. I know the Wings were just in a Classic a couple years ago, but that didn't seem to matter this year.

Of course, if it weren't for the fact that NBC can't get the rights to show a Canadian team game, I would love to see the Bruins take on the Habs. Now that's a rivalry game!

Oh yeah baseball stadiums look 100x better, but fit 1/3-1/2 of the attendance. I would like to see Yankee Staidum used. It also has a good capacity.

I think its more that NBC doesnt want any Canadian teams than cant get the rights to them.

If the new broadcasting agreement with NBC is simular to the current one we'll probably see a Philly/NYR or Det/LA match-up. NBC currently calls the shots when it comes to what teams will play and their list of acceptable teams is very short, just the top 10 US viewing markets.

Twitter rumors are that Philly is head candidate to host next...wow. Even quicker than the Pens turn over.

Ugh, Bettman is losing me as a supporter. Not that he cares of course.

In Denver would be nice against Detroit, Dallas, LA, Minnesota or San Jose (I would select a Canadian team but we all know NBC would not go for it).
But funny side note while we were watching the game my son said why not have the Avs and Coyotes play but wear the Nordiques and Jet uni's.

Hotstove: U.S. networks could decide Classic fate

Contributor Pierre LeBrun said Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia — home of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles — is the front-runner. Colorado and Minnesota are other interested cities.

"The NHL prefers the NFL stadium model compared to the baseball stadium," LeBrun said

:D:):D

I gotta remember Yankee Stadium was a favorite...and they went with Fenway.

I think Philly WILL get it, but in 2013 or 14. If we thought 2 in 3 years was bad, 2 in 2 years? Just a little much. Obviously with the Burgh getting this one, the NHL has made it known that it's all about the market/money, not just the on ice product. However, Philly still seems to be the most appealing from a marketing standpoint. Still dangerous however, after this years weather issues, to go somewhere with the same inconsistent weather patterns.

Isn't it the opposite? Much smaller TV market than the last two cities it's been played in.

Dallas @ Minnesota. The Wild wear commemorative jerseys while Dallas wears old North Stars jerseys.

True, but this pulls in DC (big market) and Pitt with a very large, broad following.

It's true. There were a lot of big women in Penguin sweaters at the Classic. Ba dum, chiiiiissssshhh.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I'm pretty sure we will see 2012 @ NY and 2013 @ Washington.

I know the NHL won't do it, but playing on the reflecting pool in DC would be money for a TV event.

Vancouver - ??? in Vancouver is my vote!

fixed

Heritage Classic of course ... if one gets scheduled ... last time i checked NBC doesnt advertise to canadians ... CBC has been coming around ... no one wants to see that shitshow the toronto maple leafs in a showcase outdoor game especially when Tyler Bozak is their #1 centre

how vancouver you ask ... what about the rain you ask?
