The members here have talked about him. I Never thought we would get someone Big-ish. 29 years old. Should good for at least three years.

What do we think. Tell Me What to Think. LOL Seems like a good upgrade to left side now can Chappy really play SS like was suggested in other thread. :noidea:

If Fitzy is as good this Full Year looks like a very good infield, hitting wise will need to see how actual fielding is to say it's a really good Infield.

Feels like an overpay, but that’s how free agency always seems to work now. Why would you move Chapman? He’s one of the best at 3B.

I like this signing, he's still pretty young, he's a legit hitter. We aren't getting superstar bats, we need to field teams like 2010, good hitters but great pitching. Still need to sign Burnes or Flaherty or another front line pitcher

Yeah the ratchet always goes up. It's not an overpay so much as the market rate (especially to get hitters in SF). In a few years it will be a bargain if he's productive. Only way to get good players from outside the organization is give up good prospects or pay a lot for FAs.

There was talk in the Rosterbation thread that Chappy offered to move so that he would sign here.

If it turns out Chappy, Adames, Fitz (he does what he did last year over a full year) and in a year or so with Our hitting phenom-ish it would contend with the best infields for hitting.

Right but giving up the best fielding 3B in the NL to accommodate a guy, not sure that's the move but they know more than I do about it

I read that was for Kim while he healed. Didn’t make sense but that is what I read. So I guess Giants didn’t want to take a chance on Kim.
Other than being Lee's buddy I saw zero point in bringing Kim in.

Asi said in another thread, I am not a huge fan of this signing. He has power, but will that translate here? His OPS+ is mid at best. I haven’t seen him play D, but he has a negative rep.

Despite all that, he is my new favorite SS in the game…

Thinking about it there could be several different options Fitzy at 2d or SS Chappy at 3rd or 2nd or SS and Adames at 3rd or SS or 2nd. They must have a plan and we will hear about it when they have some news conferences in the next few days.

I like this contract a lot more than I did the Correa one. If there is any position change, I’d prefer Chappee stay at 3rd base, we sign HSK and then move Adames to first. Overall, I think it’s a solid move. As the Dodgers have showed recently, good players like to go to teams that have other good players. This gives us another one of those.

All solid points. Depth is depth and I am not a believer that $$ will/should stop a serious team from doing what it wants. I choose to believe we are a serious team.

Moving him to 1B doesn’t sit with me, though. He is “only” 6’1” and has no MLB experience at 1B. I would rather have Fitz and Adames battle for the SS position with the “loser” moving to 2B. Or sign Kim for SS and make Fitz the super util.

While not ideal, he is the same height as our current 1Bman

If FItz was superutility I don't think he would be happy as I am sure he and I feel he played well enough to be a starter. If he was off the bench I think he would still get 30 to 40 starts at 2nd and SS, maybe more for injuries. I wouldn't be in for Kim at this point with this signing(LOL).

In today’s game, super Util gets starting playing time. He can play 2B, Short and all 3 OF positions.
