I don't see any way he agrees to an extension now that isn't top of the position. Why should he?
Possible reasons.
1) He's smarter than Beckham Jr. and Bridgewater who played through their final contract years, got hurt, and earned nothing the following year.
2) He's not a top 4 QB so he's not going to be paid as the top QB in the league, much like Stafford's extension with the Rams wasn't the top QB contract.
3) He can earn more off the field as QB of the Dallas Cowboys than he can as QB of any other team.
4) Almost any team he goes to is going to be weaker and probably less successful than the current Cowboys team.
5) He became a 1st time father 1 month ago. Stability of his personal relationships may be more important than earning more money somewhere else.
6) He may not be motivated by being the top earner. Carr was settled in Las Vegas and was happy to stay there. It was the Raiders that wanted Carr gone.

Maybe he'd welcome a change. Maybe the Cowboys want a change. However, logic suggests the Cowboys would have openly shopped him in February if they weren't looking to re-sign him.

No, there's a high chance if he leaves Dallas he'll play them on his new team in the future and throw a pick or picks 'for Dallas'.

This is an easy question to answer.

Not me, they still put up very good regular seasons in the same division my team plays in. I'd prefer they go into next season with Marcus Mariotta and a rookie long shot and let's see how that works out for them.

I,ve loved Washington hated Dallas 50 years plus, doesn,t mean I don,t respect them though.they always put a formidable team on the field.

One interesting thought: Could Dallas trade Dak and move up for a QB? Is that possible?

A trade would increase the Cowboys 2024 cap cost by $11.4M, which is probably doable. However, Prescott has a no-trade clause so he'd have to want to play for the acquiring team. He only has 1 year remaining on his no-tag contract so an acquiring team wouldn't give up much for him without Prescott's pre-trade agreement on a new deal. A trade seems really unlikely.

As for a trade, I think it may be more likely than some of y’all think. Someone traded for Desean Watson. Teams are thirsty for decent QBs.

only if Dak allows it.

but even if he did. What team high enough in the draft for the Cowboys to move up to get a QB would trade?

I was going to make fun of the Commanders QB but I literally have no clue who it is? Giants fans even make fun of your QB situation...

Dak has a huge trade value. He would cost a team one year and $29M. No guarantees and no dead money. No chance he doesn't bring back at least a 1st if he were to be traded
