I don't know about this guy. I think he will cost a lot and frankly we don't really need him. He doesn't play nose. If he is signed then Mclain will probably be cut but the savings are minimal.

I agree. But if we land Wilkerson and draft Vea that would be 7 dlineman including Lanier. Do we keep 7 dlineman? I don't think so.

Smart teams keep at minimum 7 D lineman when they run a 3-4. Think about it, three starters, 3 rotation guys and one for Injury.

ok. but that would be a lot of money allocated to the dline. Plus if Vea or Payne is not drafted we still wouldn't have a NT. I don't understand why the Wilkerson money would go into resigning Brown.

Remind me again why Ridley is such a good idea?? Even if we sign Wilkerson, the D-line should be the pick. Fix the D-line and you can build the rest of the defense from there.

YOu cant really be this thick can you?? NO fixing the line does not fix the whole defense. But what it does do is allow guys like Kerrigan and Smith more one on ones because they actually have a line that requires one or two guys to be double teamed. Which right now they dont. Its a Domino effect. If the Line can generate pressure and stop the run, it frees up the Linebackers to rush the passer. It also means they dont have to drop Kerrigan or smith into pass coverage or have them tasked with more run coverage. It also allows the Corners and safetys to do their job.

Right now the line cant generate pressure or stop the run, so the linebackers have no choice but to chip in on both.

Fix the line, fix the MAJOR issues they have had on defense... that of stopping the run AND generating a pass rush.

now i am not a wilkerson fan , i see some AH in him when it comes to effort .

however , allen ionman payne wikerson and lanier and maybe even taylor / one mcdick boy is ok with me i would go Poe or logan over wilkerson

but fat old and lazy is 396's way

shark is right , vea /payne along with allen would give us pass rush as does ionman and we get some run stopping in there .

i like brown but 10 mil means i need more all around ability and he doesnt give me pass defense vs TE's despite his speed
