Did they have Achilles surgery?

Not trying to argue.

No. But they are also not as good of players and signed long term deals with double digit guarantees.

The Achilles is definitely a risk, but it's not a nagging injury, to this point at least. It all depends on how the physicals go.

Come on you guys, you damn well know this is the Patriots way, it's not a secret, they have done this since BB has gotten there. Ask Bledsoe, McGinest, Milloy, Samuel. It's the way they do business, it works for them, they have a few Lombardi's based on this system, so it shouldn't be a culture shock here...

All different situations
Bledsoe was traded,
Milloy was cut after not renegotiating in August
McGinest was released in March.
Asante left on his own, after playing a year under the franchise tag.

But I get your point.

Made no sense. At first he refused to report to Oakland, then said he loved it there and hated New England. But if I remember correctly, he did the right thing and never badmouthed anybody, right?

Yeah, he was professional about it. He didn't pretend he was best friends with Bill after, but I always respected the guy and he maintained it with professionalism there

I just can't accept that there's not a story there, though.

It's mindblowing when professional athletes with agents and millions of dollars on the line risk it all to badmouth someone. In that situation, as much as you crave doing so, bite your damn tongue and be a professional and you'll almost always get bigger checks for longer.

To me, Seymour always seemed aloof and arrogant, which is probably why the equally aloof and arrogant BB and he clashed.

Just the facts please......

Vince Wilfork does not weigh 350 lbs. He weighs closer to 400 lbs.
Vince Wilfork had achilles surgery to repair a 75% torn achilles tendon.
Vince Wilfork is not 100% recovered from the achilles suregry
Vince Wilfork has a less than 40% chance of ever regaining 100% of his previous ability to move laterally
Vince Wilfork was due to be paid $7,500,000 in 2014
Vince Wilfork will count $11,700,000 against the cap
The New England Patriots asked him to restructure (not renegotiate) his present contract and would be willing to extend him with guaranteed money.

What is not known is what the Patriots offered or what Vince Wilfork asked for.

Apparently Vince and the Patriots were not even in the same book, let alone the same page.

Vince thinks he can get a better offer somewhere else? What do think they'll offer when he runs a 17.6 second 40 yard dash and limps the entire distance. $4,000,000 for a 33 year old, 400lb, broken Nose Tackle??? Maybe Elway, Maybe Rex....................Maybe not.

He'll get paid. This is almost certain to be his last chance at real money and I don't blame him one bit for taking it.

Seymour is the one who was pissed.

Ty Law was the worst. He came out and called Kraft and Belichick liars. He called us the other day looking for a newer Taurus or comp car for his father. Said they had a strange relation and didnt want to spend $$$

He had the largest contact ever for an defensive tackle. Fucker sat out almost all year with injury and still made 10 mill. I stay out and I make shit. He should have seen what they were gonna put on table first. Not much loyalty these days

You don't think both sides knew what the other wanted?

It's the age in which we live.

We've seen it with other players - men that have spent their careers with "Club X" are asked to take cuts and they refuse. Sometimes, like with Urlacher, they're cut and retire. Other times they catch on for one last year or two then they're done.

You can't afford to pay a player for what he did, only for what he's going to do.

Not duped but if I was in Wilfork's shoes and the man paid me $10 mill for a year I barely played, I would be in the luxury box with Bob and knocking down some Johnnie Walkers
