Right but that doesn't have to do with how much talent he had or whether he helped players develop.

It does. He should learn to stick Breeland on OBJ the entire game. That's one of countless brain farts he's had this season.

Then what are you saying?

That he did not have way more talent to work with than Haslett and that we have no way of knowing what kinds of contributions he made to developing players. I never said anything about scheme.

Saying we never invested in D is BS. Kerrigan, Landry, Taylor, Orakpo, Haynesworth, Archuleta, Hatcher, Knighton, Cofield etc.

Blame Joe Barry when he isn't playing with a WR, another CB off the street and converting a corner to safety midway though the season.

This team played a lot of zone because they had to.

That is exactly my point. Folks need to step back and look at who we had playing in our secondary today. I'll say it again. What killed us today was not the defensive scheme Barry deployed. What killed us was the lack of pressure on Rodgers. And that was because our defensive front was completely gassed. This was because they were on the field way too long as a result of Rodgers going no huddle.

I'm not talking about players or talent. I'm taking about his lack of ability to adapt and adjust. The guy can't do it and is a moron for it.

true jy19 but why isn't Barry calling blitzes to get the ball out faster so our DB's don't have to cover for a long time. Barry plays conservative. I know we don't have the talent at CB but our defense tonight did not step up at all. Well the 1st qtr we played well but that 2nd half was abysmal. The blame goes to Barry and our players. I think the Packers scored on 6 of there last 7 possessions that is simply unacceptable.

The lack of pressure on Rodgers was directly related to the scheme he employed. If our DBs sat on those routes, Rodgers wouldn't have had that much time to get his passes off and relied on a balky o-line to block for throws downfield. This is where Mike McCarthy overmatched Barry: he realized that Rodgers was getting pressured and then resorted to a dink-and-dunk scheme. In fact, this is exactly how the last game we played against the Pack went. At the start of that other game, Rodgers tried to drop back and we got pressure on him and sacked him. McCarty then shortened up Rodgers drop and that other idiot Haslett didn't know how to respond.

We lost because they are a better team. We saw it all year when we played a good game. I laughed to myself at one point in the game when Rogers completed a pass to someone Dunbar was covering and thought he is thinking "you are going to defend me with a WR?" No ill will to Dunbar, he has done well for what they asked him to do but this was Aaron Freaking Rogers.

We play zone because we can't play man on a regular basis. Barry is forcing the other team to complete a dry without making some sort of mistake. I am proud of how those guys played considering who they are and where they came from.

Instead some want to employ the old Dan and Vinny move and fire someone after one season where he is outgunned.

Pretty good analysis here, though I'd say that if we forced Rodgers to look downfield, our pass rush would've gotten to him. Blitzing may not have been necessary. In any case, this is yet another case of Barry not being able to think things through.

And that's the point: their WRs weren't that great. Cobb and Adams were really good last year, but that's now looking like that's because of Jordy Nelson. We could've played press coverage on their receivers and forced Rodgers to look downfield. If that had happened, our pass rush would've been able to get to him.

In Dunbars defense he did have two third down pass breakups. I agree redskinsfan Barry was lost out there today.

First, we did blitz. And you know what happened? Rodgers is one of the best and rolling away from pressure, which is what he did. Sometimes he had 5 seconds to find a receiver when we blitzed. Compton was always shadowing Rodgers. What we never did was a safety or CB blitz. But I saw mason rushing on a couple occasions. It's not his strength and he got picked up every time.

I swear I don't understand how some of you aren't getting calls from Redskin Park to come coach.

BTW what the hell is the dink and dunk offense. Are you referring to the WCO? I don't remember Bill Walsh calling it the dink and dunk offense when Montana and Young were running it.

Did you not see Rogers miss on three long throws? Or do they not count because he overthrew them?

Randall Cobb is a very good player and a threat to any secondary. But they have the reigning NFL MVP at QB. You don't need dez or megaton, Rodgers will eat you alive with high school WRs if given enough time.

jy I rarely saw the blitz. Shadowing is not blitzing. I didn't like Barrys scheme at all tonight. One again Hatcher gave us absolutely nothing tonight.

I did see those. Did you see how many short throws he actually connected on that wore our defense down? This is basically Joe Barry thinking: hey, let's not blitz because the QB can make big plays against us, all the while knowing that the QB can make other plays that will lead to TDs anyways.
