I think most of you guys haven't considered that most likely Rondo doesn't WANT to be there and may force a trade.

I'd say his days are numbered in Boston. Nobody wants to be on a team during a rebuild, especially a guy that's won a title there. I'll be surprised if he finishes the season in a celtics uniform.

I think there is a point where a team can trade away too much.

I also don't think the Celtics should trade away Rondo because I don't think his trade value is as high as fans think it is. I also think that Rondo is a valuable piece just for the ability to show up during the playoffs. He has an on/off switch, imo, but since his value is likely very low right now you have to appreciate his 'on' switch in the playoffs. Rondo is a guy that can go against Rose and outplay him. You don't give that up, imo.

You might be right that now is not the time to trade him. Once he has establishes that he is healthy may be better.

As for his track record in the big games, you have to get there first. The C's are going to have a really hard time building a serious contender between now and 2015 when Rondo is a free agent.

way to leave out the other things Rondo does well that most other PGs don't. He is a great rebounder and one of the better defenders at that position. You don't trade Rondo. He is still young and can grow with any draft picks they bring in.

Rondo is an excellent player, just not one of the 5 best league wide at his position for the reasons I outlined.

I'd take him over Parker every day of the week

For the next 5 years, I think I would agree with you. :suds:

For the next two while Rondo is under contract, I certainly would not take him over Parker.

Looks like a pretty crappy 10 card poker hand to me. Are you trying to say that Rondo is Rainman?

Rondo must have boinked your girl or something, tlance. What is it with you and your lying eyes? Have you ever even seen Rondo play a full game? Word.

I'm trying to say that tanking is a brilliant idea. Full on tanking is a terrible one. Celtics had a prime-ish Paul Pierce when they tanked.

:laugh3:   ...........wait......you are serious?
Of course I'm serious. He has outplayed CP3 and Nash in his career. He kept the Spurs in a series against a much more talented Heat team.

That 2005 team underachieved and should have beaten the Pacers in the playoffs. Look what happened though, 2006 we sucked and 06-07 was the Paulie injury season where we ended up getting the #5 overall and swapping it (Jeff Green) along with Sczerbiak and Delonte West for Ray Allen which begat the Garnett deal. Ainge knows how to wheel and deal. I suspect we'll have a semi-competitive season and vie for a spot in the postseason.

C) Kelly Olynyk, Fab Melo, Colton Iverson
PF) Brandon Bass, Jared Sullinger, Kris Humphries
SF) Jeff Green, Gerald Wallace, Kris Joseph
SG) Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee
PG) Rajon Rondo, Phil Pressey

It'll depend on who's coaching and how big of a role Gerald Wallace plays (if he isn't dealt).

I have seen Rondo play plenty.

I think he is really good.

What I don't think you see clearly is that the Celtics are going to be pretty mediocre next year. Mediocre is the worst place to be in the NBA.

Ah,

But here is the key. Those moves were made possible by two things.

first, the Celtics sucked because of a Pierce injury. If he were healthy, they may not have been able to pull those deals off.

Second, those two trades were once in a generation maneuvers. Had they only been able to make one, and not the other, the Celts would not have won any rings.

Who is going to take on Wallace? Do you realize how bad he is? His contract is literally among the 3 worst in the NBA, if not the worst. The only way to move him is by giving away assets along with him.

Parker isn't in my top 5. I'd probably put him either 6,7 or 8. They are all pretty interchangable to me at that point.
