you are correct in that first comment and it was me who first mentioned the 50 yarder. Unlike most here I'll simply own my mistake. My bad.

and, no, I'm not agreeing with you that a 50 yard completion holds great value if it does not become a score. some value? sure. I will also add a 50 yarder that does not become a score likely does not happen much in a game as I pointed out.

You clearly go out of your way to overvalue football and really no need. You like it better, maybe a lot better. so do I. No need to overvalue certain things about it.
I'm not overvaluing anythng. You are the one to argue that 50 yards in field position is comparable to a pitcher thowing a few more pitches in an inning he gets out of. I was simply pointing out it's far more valuable and I gave my reasons.

Would you rather start on the 5 or the opponent's 45? You honestly don't see that as a big difference and comparable to your starting pitcher throwing 5 additional pitches? Really? Again I was not the one to create this scenario but clearly you have seen a long completion from a team that is backed up but still didn't end up in field goal range.

Props for admitting an error. We all do it and few admit it.

Yes, but when is the last time the Bengals, Lions or Commanders won anything? Before every season, you probably could have list 4-5 teams that have a chance to win the Super Bowl and you would almost always be right. It’s probably not much different in any of the major sports actually.
What is "anything? I said in the NFL you feel you have a chance. And when those teams made Super Bowls or Championship Games recemt;u well their fans obviously felt they had a chjance, because they did. Let me know when Maryland gets this far.

In fact, because I am an adult and will admit errors as already shown I do think the 50 yards matters more.....but how often do we see 50 yard pass plays that result in no points being scored?

as I keep saying I love football so much more. In fact, I wont even watch a baseball game if I don't care who wins (so pretty much as to be a Tribe game). I'll watch football if I don;t care who wins.

Just my opinion, but do think you are overvaluing the sport you like better.

“Anything” in this context is defined as winning a Super Bowl. How many teams had a legit shot to do so before the season started? Chiefs, Bills, Eagles, Lions, Ravens maybe? Maybe you want to add another team to that list? Meanwhile, 3 of those teams are still playing. If Washington wins it all, that would be a huge upset. But those situations are very rare in the NFL.

As for Maryland, you are 100% right. They wouldn’t compete for a National Championship for 100 years.

Before the season? Hell, you could add even the Browns to that list. Maybe Dallas (instead of Washington). I'd say for sure SF is on the list along with maybe TB and the Rams.

The NFL is very good at gaslighting people it has parity. It largely does not. MLB has *more parity* just because the sport is built more for that. Even despite the clowncar mockery of competition the MLB financial system is.

But I said if you were a fan of those teams you felt that you had a shot. And getting to the Super Bowl or the Championship Game means your team had a shot. Hell on draft day every fan of every team feels optimism. Can we really say that about a Maryland fan on national signing day?

When was the last time we saw a last place team in baseball or any other sport make a run the follow season, or at the least make the playoffs? We see it in the NFL quite often with Washington being the latest example.

So how is Bedard doing these days.....
Seemed like he was the guy everuone was talking about,as much as Wemby wss was talked about a year ago,now it seems like I never hear anything about him........but that maybe because I never watch a single secind of it.....
Bedard plays for the worst team in hockey in a sport most don’t care about , he’s talented of course , but he just doesn’t stand out.

Wemby also plays for a non contending team, but fans of game imo will go out of way to watch him, dudes a freak

Had a great rookie campaing, now going through a sophomore slump. He's seems to be getting better and Blackhawks look to have another too five pick in draft which should help going forward. Hoping they get number one again next year to get Bedard's cousin, Gavin McKenna, who some say is even better than he is.

Gavin McKenna.....never heard of him.
But for Chicagos sake,I will be on the watch out to see if he becomes a Hawk.

And is Connor 20 yet.....lol

The Blackhawks are the worst team in the NHL.....wow.....I never paid any attention.

Wemby and Ant Man are the only two guys I followw in the NBA.....Im one of those guys who go outta my way to watch him play.....Hell I even had the wife watch him play just to see a freakish athlete play....lol

And I think Wemby needs to be around the hoop more....I know he can shoot the 3 some, but he is built differently...
Get down in there and let Paul dish to you for easier some easier buckets......use that tallness to his advantage. He should be dominating the boards.....
I watched him bank a 3 the other night just below the logo when theres no reason to have shot that at that time. I t was not like the 24 secind clock was winding down.

As far as Edwards,he seems to be a little off this season, not playing lije he did last season......I think Minnesota screwed up by trading KAT.
I just dont think Randle is the missing piece......

But anyways, thanks for the replies guys....

Good catch. I forgot about them because nobody gives a fuck about the Texas Rangers. I should have worded it "how often..." because what the Rangers did was an abberation. And it was awesome by the way, I was rooting for them.

But in football teams like the Commanders, and before that the Lions and Bengals, have shown you can go from first place to contention in one offseason. We see it all the time.

Assuming you meant last place to contention? If so, I agree.

I don't think there is a better sport to watch in the US than pro football. It's a game you can follow live or in person, it's not over saturated with too many games and the way it's set up with revenue sharing and the salary cap just makes it more competitive from top to bottom, and better to watch and be a fan.

Here are the reasons why I don't follow the other pro sports.

MLB - Too slow, the pace of that game just makes it boring to me. While I do enjoy going to a game in person, it's more about the atmosphere than the game. Watching it on TV is almost unbearable until the playoffs, but even then it's slow.

NHL - Fantastic game to go see in person, just too difficult to watch on TV. Unfortunately, where I grew up we didn't have a NHL franchise so I just never got into it. Have gone to a few games and they were awesome in person. The action away from the puck is all kinds of awesome, but you don't get a feel for the game on TV.

NBA - While I did enjoy going to the games in person, it's been a long time. They took too much defense out of the game and now it just seems to me like it's take it to the rack or kick and shoot a 3. Boring as hell and at this point in time too many fan boys that just follow 1 player as opposed to a team and I cannot stand those types.

I've always loved watching football; the fast pace and always on the edge of your seat from a offensive shootout or a defensive slugfest. The jersey's & uniforms always looked cool to me and they don't have the advertisement logos on them and I hope they never do. Going to games are fun, especially traveling to other team stadiums and having fun with opposing fans. I've been to Rams @ Colts in 2023 & Rams @ Bears in 2024 and both games were a lot of fun and the fans were amazing. 2025 season, going to Rams @ Titans & Rams @ Falcons.

Never been to a NHL game. I tried watching in on TV. I don't understand it that much

Within the last 2 years, I've gotten into the NBA more. I went to my first NBA game last year, Lakers @ Pacers and it was fun. I had a great time. In March, going to Lakers @ Pacers & Lakers @ Bulls.

I'm not into MLB that much, I do find it boring. Its more fun at the stadium than on TV. I would never travel to another stadium for a MLB game. They have too many games IMO

It's the weight given to the small number of games.

Every completion matters. Every running gain matters. Even the kicks matter. Turnovers are huge.

Every moment has greater significance.

Commercials are aggravating to fans watching but they give the players time to rest up and deliver energy when the game is on.

Going to a baseball game is more of a social event. When you watch the game you can hear a constant murmor, when you look closely at the crowd they are talking to their group or people around them. It's pretty cool and unique, people at baseball games tend to be freindlier and more engaged with other fans than in other sports for some reason.
