Packers - Vikings game just ended in a tie.

Not sure why we still have ties in the NFL. The two teams should just play as they do in the playoffs, until someone wins.

There are no ties in the other two of the big three sports (MLB and NBA) so I don't understand why the NFL still has them.

Under the old rules this game wouldn't have been a tie, since GB scored a FG on its first possession that MN then matched. I don't think it's a good idea to just keep playing in a regular season game, though. If neither team can win in seventy-five minutes, then neither deserves to win. And hockey has ties, doesn't it?

because in MLB & NBA they don't beat the crap out of each other every play.

Safety reasons. Playing 6+ quarters would be insane.

Used to, they have shootouts to decide winners in the regular season if the game is still tied after overtime.

If it's safety reasons, then get back to sudden death imo. Since they went to this format, there has been 2 ties in past two seasons... go back to 1st possession score wins.

The concept of the 'tie' was originally introduce by Frank 'the tie' Morrison during a 19th century boxing much.

Both fighters, exhausted to continue boxing but still standing, was called a 'tie' by Frank. This carried over into numerous sports where the NHL and to be NFL introduced ties into their ranks for sports that were too physically demanding to continue play.

If the game ends in a tie, the fastest player from each team should line up on the 1 yard line and Sprint to the end zone, first player to cross the end zone wins the game for their team....problem solved

Imagine sprinting in the conditions like Chicago last week. That's alone worth is the admission price. Better not pull a hamstring :laugh3::laugh3:

Can't have them playing all night during the regular season. There were ties once in awhile with sudden death too. I don't see it as problem.

Fixed it. If Flynn would have started the game, there's a good chance the Packers would have won. I'm not second guessing anything here because Tolzien, despite some mistakes last week, also made some very, very good plays, and I think he deserved the start. But Tolzien couldn't hit squat in this game and deserved to be benched. If the Packers had a Cade McCown, or if Flynn was on the roster from the start of the season, there's a good chance the Packers would be at least 2-2 in the last four games.
