How many natty's have fast paced offenses been responsible for?

Now Florida and Auburn won with spread offenses, but those aren't hurry up per say.

Alabama handles it just fine Mr. 41-14 Michigan Chief! :laugh3:

Right, because this is about Michigan. I'm not the one complaining about the current state of college football. Though it seems Johnny Football may disagree with Bama handling an up-tempo offense.

Do y'all not think Alabama fans realize they will lose games? It's not like they will never lose again. And guess what? It will be to power teams like LSU and fast paced teams as well. However, every time Alabama does lose to a hurry up offense please don't act like they can't beat those type teams. You can't be that stupid! Can you?

That's it BamaTee! I hereby sentence you to having to watch an entire season of college football with every single game being called by Gary and Vern!

Now that would be more entertaining than all the fast-paced offenses and injury faking defenses of the entire college football world.

And it seems that the OC for A&M would disagree with you and the entire notion that it was the up tempo offense that beat Alabama.

Kliff Kingsbury on last year's Alabama-Texas A&M game, and on Johnny Manziel, 'He'll be better' | al.com

Host Scott Van Pelt:
"The Bama game, that will stand forever. That first quarter, it's not that they didn't know what hit them, it was that they couldn't stop from getting hit. Was that 15 minutes just as much fun as you ever had up there, just drawing up the Xs and Os?"

Kingsbury:
"It was. And you knew they would wake up. They had a big lull from the week before, winning in dramatic fashion (against LSU), and we knew that coming in, so we said we better jump on them quick and hold on. Our kids did a great job of starting fast in that game."

Looking back at the season, Kingsbury said it was as much the offense the Aggies ran as it was Manziel's abilities.
"It was kind of a perfect storm," he said. "You throw in an offensive line that was probably one of the best in college football in the last 10 years.
"(Manziel) is a phenomenal talent. He would be successful in any system, based on those attributes, but I think our system spreading people out and running that in the SEC, which isn't accustomed to that, really helped."

Notice what he didn't mention as the reason? Any up tempo? Anything about Alabama being tired from the pace and couldn't handle it?

But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of the narrative.

It is much easier to block the other team and run from them than it is to fight through blocks and chase. The offensive line is resisting and the defensive line is pushing(much harder). Substitutions of players is much more fair than running at a pace no one can use the players they recruited to build a program that is what college football is suppose to be about. Team who recruits better, coaches better, conditions better should win. Allowing these offenses to run this way with no respect for the defense takes away 2 of those variables, coaching and recruiting (depth).

The problem is you are using Alabama as an example because I pull for them but they are conditioned as good as anyone. What they can't do because of the rules is use all the packages they have for different situations with different players. Which one sounds more fair to you?

:pound: the hurry up offense takes away from coaching!?!? Hahaha

The rules are fair how they are, the defense can substitute when the offense does. The offense, just like in most sports, control the tempo and pace of the game. Carolina's up tempo no huddle allows defenses to substitute, but injuries are faked when teams aren't conditioned and players need to come out of games because their tired. Faking injuries, to me, isn't a strategy it's a cop out.

This crap about too fast is a joke. Fact remains that a fast tempo can hurt your own defense if you do not get first downs. Pace is not a huge advantage if a defense gets stops. Takes a toll if the offense continually moves the ball. Defensive players have become specialists. This is simply the offenses answer.

It destroys you're own defense. Even if they get first downs if you score quick your defense is right back on the field. If you're offense is running more plays when going faster your defense is going to be on the field for more plays which leads to injuries and it makes getting through the entire season with all of your players difficult.

And this should be the rule.

1) The Defense can substitute any time during the game, at ANYTIME. While the clock is running/stopped and the opposing team can keep snapping the ball.

It is the rule, right? Unless you're implying substituting in the middle of a play.

The game certainly has changed and that by itself is not an earth shattering statement. However, if that is the case why is it a big deal if defenses fake an injury. I hear all the fans of these type offenses complain, moan and joke about how a team lays there so the defense can rest. Oregon fans do it all the time. Texas A&M fans singled out Florida and LSU as teams doing it. They beat Alabama and complimented them for not doing it. So what!!! I think a defense has all the right in the world to lay there so his team can rest or, better yet, substitutions can be made.

Let them moan. Its gonna happen when you run thoses offenses, your gonna have a team that isnt condition, there not gonna have a smart enough coach or coaching staff that can sub in players quick enough then you know there gonna have a few players lay down..

Sumlin; "It wasn't out team flopping around on the field in the second half."

Because they don't allow the D to substitute and put the players wanted on the field, not because the players are tired.
