It's just the way shit is....

take your avatar for instance....four discrete quadrants, collectively quite an asset, broken up for strategic purposes can provide a usefell means of communication that others might find distracting at the same time........

Yea I understand what the purpose of it is........but it just looks like we are trying to be like Oregon or something. Watson always talks about how our offense has its own identity and blah blah........looks to me like we are Oregon's little brother

My original post was actually totally humorous and nothing serious, but if you insist on talking serious for a moment... Were we the first team to run the wishbone? The Power I? I don't care who invented any scheme or idea in coaching. If it works, other folks will try it. Honestly, myself, don't see the signs doing shit. Just because our board has one extremely obnoxious Oregon fan doesn't mean that a good team shouldn't look at what Oregon does so well on the offensive side of the ball and try and copy that shit.

Yea.............no actually I was not at all talking about our offensive scheme. Those boards are uncalled for as far as signaling in the plays. When questioned about whether or not the boards were to help signaling in the play Watson said no, they just thought it was cool.

If we wanna do somethin cool then why don't we come up with somethin on our own..........and as far as doing something "cool" I'd rather the Huskers just show up to work every day and get shit done rather than trying to be cool

I don't disagree with you....I just don't see an immediate outrage. Maybe the signs are an internal joke (maybe even in a mocking way) to get the guys to chuckle and loosen up? As much as technique needs to be drilled into the guys, having fun and enjoying the game is an extremely important part as well. This point is what fucking killed us in the Texas game. The team was so tight and so much fucking pressure to execute (mostly by the local press and us fans), they tried so fucking hard not to fuck up and that didn't work so well.

I just personally don't see the pro or con of the signs. I personally agree with you they were lame, but maybe they were used at that time to make the team loosen the sphicters and play to their talents for a bit.

All I know is it makes me want to go to the zoo, get a hot dog, and finish the day off with a couple Blockbuster videos.

But the point is that there was no point in using the boards...........Watson said it was just an attempt to look cool.

That's like seeing a shirt your best friend wore to school and going and buying that shirt to be cool.

And by the way, Oregon pasted pictures of ESPN analysts on their boards because their number 1 goal is to get media attention

Oregon obviously knows that if things get tight..Disney has the ability to be the deciding factor in the race..

I just saw on Disney now where Fowler was interviewing TCU kids after game asking them "how bad do you wanna go to the national title game?"

Trying to make voters feel bad in advance.

or its to try to confuse your future opponents

they might mean nothing and only be picked randomly by some 6th string LB with nothing to do with the plays that are being called, but future teams might put time into trying to figure out what the signs mean

I just found it interesting after the first week Oregon did that and Chip Kelly went out of his way to say on national tv, "I hope that Chris, Lou, Kirk, Lee, and all the guys at ESPN saw their pictures on our boards."

Media attention

Aside from all that crap..Oregon is a really good football team.

They stay focused week in/week out and play hard the entire game. I think they have a no mercy rule..

The more our offense resembles Oregon the happier this guy is.
