Well, just reported on Seattle Sports 710 that Deshaun Watson will not face criminal charges connected to all the accusations of sexual assault, so the possibility of him being an option probably just bumped up a bit. He could still be suspended by the league, pending the outcome of their own investigation. He could still face civil suits as well.

And hey, Kaepernick has been working out and showing interest in getting back in the league! :D

Super Bowl contenders? I love that also, but if we are being honest here the Seahawks haven't been Super Bowl contenders for many years.
I know it's all Pete's fault right?

The Seahawks were 12-4 2 years ago.

Ultimately the coach is the one responsible for the success of a team.

If Sean McVay were our head coach do you think this team would be better, worse, or the same?

Hard to say about hypothetical situation. Prior to winning the Super Bowl this year Rams fans hated him, more then some here hate Carroll. In any case I personally didn't feel the Seahawks were Super Bowl contenders for a many years, they were contenders to make the play offs but even that was getting to be a stretch. I blame it on how the NFL is set up to make it difficult to remain at the top.

The capital required to get watson is too damn high, and he has a no trade clause so its questionable that he would even want to come here.

The rumor is that Seattle is the leading contender right now. I do think other teams can outbid Seattle just with the eyeball test

When we were Super Bowl contenders, we were a badass defense, with a smashmouth run game.....just sayin

Sounds like we are among 4 teams seriously interested in watson. Honestly I hope it doesnt happen based on the cost alone.

You could be right, but I am not 100% convinced of it. He's due to count $40M against Houston's cap this year. That is a huge amount for a guy who they may no longer want. If they trade him with a post 1-June designation, they only get a $5M cap hit and save the other $35M. That cap incentive may be valuable enough to get them to move him without demanding a king's ransom. His '22 cap number eats into their negotiating leverage IMO.

Do they have to wait until after june 1 to make that designation? I imagine they would want picks this year including a high one. And with potentially 4 teams involved the price could escalate quickly

The only reason the Seahawks should think about Watson is if they believe he's the piece that would make them a Super Bowl contender. I highly doubt that would be the case. Let someone else waste their time with him.

Having Lockett, DK and Fant would be a good reason to waive it.

I think half of Lockett's value was in his relationship with Russ. They were on the same page on scramble drills and was his safety blanket. I'm not sure that he will have the same skill set with a new QB.

I think DK will be great no matter who you pair him with.

Actually I think Lockett could do it with any QB, He is not thrown open he is thrown to when he IS open. Lockett understands the game and would have equal success any where he went as long as the QB is worth his weight in salt. That's a slap to Lockett's face you guys lol do you not know you just basically said Lockett was made by Wilson? How often have you seen Lockett HIMSELF make CRAZY catcher? How often do you see Lockett WIDE OPEN? such disrespect wow.

Fully agree with that. Lockett runs his routes well, gets open and his hands are a thing of beauty. RW tends to focus on feeding one WR is seems, when it's Lockett his numbers go through the roof and when it's Metcalf then Lockett numbers suffer. I wish Metcalf had hands like Lockett, but he doesn't. He does make some great catches though. Lockett>Metcalf.

Watson fills many of the offensive issues they have by himself if he ends up on the team. Doesn’t help the Adams situation but if Watson is the QB next year they will approve from Russell’s production.

I doubt the offense improves if Watson comes in. I'd still take Russell over Watson. But, even if they did, Watson would eat so much of their cap space that they wouldn't have enough room to fix any of the holes this team has, while most likely lose most (if not all) the picks we just acquired. Bringing Watson in destroys this team's ability to improve in the short and long term.

Hard pass.
