For what it's worth, there are many Broncos fans who feel like Lock has really good upside. His growth was stunted with revolving door at O coordinator, no OTA's and limited training camp during Covid year and getting benched for Teddy Bridgewater. A move intended to save Fangio's job. Lock is very athletic and has a huge arm. His issues have been turnovers, a little panicky when the pocket breaks down and some accuracy issues. When he's on his game, he can look really good. High energy guy on the field, teammates really like him and you can see that he has a lot of fun when playing football. Prior to the RW trade, many of us were hoping that we would really see what Lock had this year. If he wasn't the guy, then the Broncos would address QB in next year's draft. Seems to me that the Seahawks might be in a very similar situation.

I don't envy the Packers situation at all.

Smith was hurt last season but he was really good prior to that. Losing players like this is what happens when you have to pay through the nose for your QB and that is how the roster starts eroding.

Change of scenery has worked for a few guys in the past. Maybe Drew Lock is our version of a guy who needs to change teams to see some playing time and actually perform at a high level.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but I wouldn't hate it if we ended up with Cheesecake Baker this year (as long as we don't give up any real value to get him). Sounds like he might be on the outs with Cleveland and I think he's got the upside of a solid starter, whereas I think Lock has the upside of a guy we hope doesn't totally fuck a game up when he comes in for a couple plays because the starter needs to take a shit.

That and his commercials are great, so there'd at least be some entertainment coming in.

I wouldn't hate it either but like you said we shouldn't give up a lot to get him. Let him and Lock battle it out in camp for the starting job.

Well doubt he comes free, what if not real value would you offer?

Maybe a 3rd or 4th to kick the tires? Not nothing, but not a huge loss, doesn't tie us to him?
Well that won’t be too much, but doubt the Browns go for that. Likely just be a rental though as he’s a free agent after this season. He’s likely better then Lock but not the future either so not sure he’s worth the bother of losing even a third round pick.

From what I am reading the Seahawks are probably going to roll with Drew Lock. My personal opinion is that I think the Seahawks aren't looking to find the next Patrick Mahomes they are trying to turn the team into more the 49ers. In which they would run the ball and make high percentage passes and play defense so the end all be all isn't with the QB.

Most likely. Low risk football that requires a top tier defense, which the Seahawks don't have.

He's on the finally year of his contract and resigning him is a risk I'd rather not do unless he signed for cheap which isn't likely. Also the cost of trading for him is too high for a one year rental.

There is talk about Seattle going after Baker Mayfield… Man, not that he’s a bad pickup BUT it sure seems like Pete is hell bent on getting ride of our draft stock that we just obtained … I swear to God man, I’m slowly losing faith in Pete, seems like he’s determined to (@@$& this up ….

oh God not Baker Mayfraud....

I'd be perfectly fine trading back in the 1st some, moving up with some of the trade to grab Corral or even Ridder.... and spending the rest of the draft capital + cap room on the OL/DL/LBer group. I think everything else (with exception of RB which you can pay CHEAP for) is fine.

Seattle never had any linkage or rumors about Mayfield... now ANY QB asking for a trade is available to Seattle because that gets views/ratings. Seattle is not trading for Baker Mayfraud... guarantee that does not happen. Seattle traded Wilson knowing who their target was... that guaranteed was not the dork out of Cleveland.

And Mayfield is generally useless. He sucks at passing and relies heavily on a dominant run attack... so if we DID trade for him, you might as well just trade Lockett, Fant, and Metcalf. Look if the Browns want a 7th round pick.. ...... no, I still say no.

Or maybe this is click bait rumors? Pete hasn’t traded away any picks.

I see Packer traded Devonte Adams, sure Rodgers is thrilled about it.

Hell no to Baker Mayfield. I'd rather waste our last draft pick on a punter so he can hold a clip board for our ST's coach.
