Simple Question.
Embiid has injuries written all over him. He's also has anger management issues (which he may or may not grow out of). Poison to a team that wants to win 'ships.
Trade Simmons to Spurs. Build around Kawhi and Embid.
i mean, the ultimate guy with "anger management issues" was Jordan. lol. that was not poison for him.Embiid has injuries written all over him. He's also has anger management issues (which he may or may not grow out of). Poison to a team that wants to win 'ships.
Jokic also makes super fun highlight reel passesThese guys aren't at the level of Embiid/Simmons or probably Tatum/Brown, but this duo could give both of these combo's a run for their money next year:
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.
These two are going to be really, really good for a long time. Murray needs to develop a bit more as a play maker, but his scoring has come along a tremendous ways. Improved from 9.9 last year to 16.7. Jokic quietly averaged 18.5 pts, 10.7 rebs, and 6.1 on 49.9/39.6/85.0 shooting percentages. That's insane when you think about it.
That doesn't make a lot of sense. Kawhi is a better player right now but Simmons is 5 years younger, on a rookie contract, and should improve considerably. Kawhi is going to get paid a max contract deal next year so that would essentially hamstring the Sixers from getting another top flight player.
You'd have to pick Embiid and Simmons, because finding a big man with the talent of Embiid is so difficult, but I would take either Brown or Tatum over Simmons.
I voted potato salad because anything can be built around a good potato salad.
Having said that, my next choice would be Embiid/Simmons.
If Simmons never improves any part of his game, he's still a guy that will get you close to a triple double pretty much every night.
Embiid has the potential to be a generational type of big. He's almost a perfect big for today's game because he's athletic enough to defend other bigs on the perimeter and can hit the occasional 3 himself. Plus, he is still big enough to be a force in the paint on both ends of the floor.
His injuries are a concern, almost enough to make me pick Tatum/Brown, but you have to take a chance with a big with Embiids kind of talent.
Out of those two duos only?
If it's truly other, then I'm taking Curry & Durant easily. And probably Towns and Butler. And maybe a 33 year old LeBron and potato salad.
Celtics are more built around a core of players who contribute equally.
I predict Simmons/Embiid aren't winning sh@t, ever. And I like the Sixers.
Unless Simmons decides to shoot the ball and with at least a reasonable percentage on top of that (he is a pretty horrid shooter) I would never build around him. Teams are seeing him more and more and they watched how Boston defended him. Now IF he develops these other parts of his game sure, but he is 2 years removed from college, and has two seasons with Sixers coaches and he looks no better.
