As much as it annoys everyone, Pats getting Jones early instead of waiting around and trading down, shows what the team is looking for. They will prime and nurture him as one of the best dink n dunkers, and has long ball threat becuase understands the pocket and now has a few weapons.

i believe the Pats will start Cam and pull some changes of QB in season. Put nothing past BB.

@Megagoon30 throws phone down in disgust. No one agreeing or arguing with him.

Meh. I’ve spoken my piece. There are way too many NFL scouts that didn’t care for Mac Jones for me to say he absolutely was a 1st round talent. If he proves me wrong, great. Good for the kid. But for now, I’ll defer to the experts; the people that are paid by NFL organizations to scout college talent. And it seems the majority of teams thought he should have been a day 2 pick.

Also he has 3 votes, so at least 2 other people see him as having the highest potential to bust.

He was a day 1 pick right? Most every mock I saw had him going first round and they were right about that. So who were these NFL scouts that thought he was a day 2 talent?

199 picks later Brady was selected. He wasn't touted to be anything by many and more of your so called experts. Talk about swinging and missing.

There are also plenty of other experts saying this was a steal. Jones fell into BBs lap. It's killing you because of all the recent busts the Broncos have had recently.

The worst thing imagenable for you is to have another NE dynasty slapping your Broncos around.

Much easier to admit that, then carry on this charade. Every post talking about QBs and the draft you interjected how bad a pick Jones would be.

NE living space free in your head.

Shhhh if he keeps saying it and clicks his heels together three times he thinks it may be true.

Now sure Jones could bust like many others have. Or he could be great. More than likely he's a decent QB for years to come. But Mega is obssessed NE got him and is secretly holding seance's to prove everyone wrong. I'm not worried until he pulls out the voodoo doll. Jones looks too much like Brady and I still want to see what Brady has left without any black magic shit.

Some had him going #3. But those were the dumb ones.

Love this pick for NE. He fits their offense to the T. Damn I just wish he was mobile. It's nice to see your QB take off and scamper for 15+ yards on occassion.

Where did you see that on Jones? I saw some who had him going as high as 3rd overall. Not sure I saw any mock drafts that had him going in the 2nd round. Not that any of this means he’s going to be a success.

Trey Lance is my bust

Hearing more about the legs than the arm tools you look for in a great QB

great kid tho, so hope he’s good
Problem with this, is Josh Allen broke the mold with fans thinking that.

Im just going off of what I read on walterfootball.com. Unless he’s lying, he said he had spoken to some scouts that had a 4th round grade on Jones. Ultimately it doesn’t matter. A guy goes where he goes. Maybe he lives up to it, maybe he doesn’t.

If there are actual NFL scouts that believe Jones is that marginal a QB, I’m willing to believe them. If Kyle Shanahan believes he was worth the 3rd overall pick, he could’ve been right too. We won’t know how good he is until he plays.

All I’m saying is that if multiple teams had him outside the 1st round, as was reported by Walt, then I’m willing to believe he won’t be anything special. And I could be completely wrong and he could go and win 6 more Super Bowls for the Pats and if he does I’ll eat my crow.

Look at this list of QB’s taken in the first round over the last 10 years. I’d say there are pretty lousy odds on ANY first round QB being a success:

2011-Newton, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder
2012-Luck, RG3, Tannehill, Weeden
2013-EJ Manuel
2014-Bortles, Manziel, Bridgewater
2015-Jameis, Mariota
2016-Goff, Wentz, Lynch
2017-Trubisky, Mahomes, Watson
2018-Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Rosen, Jackson
2019-Murray, D. Jones, Haskins
2020-Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Love

I think the numbers are on your side....

Ive seen this elsewhere too, multiple places. Not just from walterfootball. I also assume the nugget from walterfootbal was from charlie campbell, and charlie does have some good insider tidbits here and there, hes usually not a smoke blower. Just my opinion.

True. He’ll get good coaching for sure. And he does seem to have a good football IQ. If he busts, he won’t be the first and he won’t be the last. If he succeeds, it just means the league will continue to hate the Pats for the next decade or 2.

The thing I’m most curious about is if he does succeed, how much longer does BB stick around. I doubt he’s up for another 20 year dynasty.

Allen is really an outlier as far as QBs that come into the league with accuracy and touch issues

most of those types don’t pan out

Yeah, this is BS. The fact that he fell to the Pats at 15 was a gift. I followed the QBs closely, and I would have a hard time finding any expert that had him falling to day 2.

Jones is the toughest to figure

Accurate and smart enough to be the perfect Pats QB for a decade

but a lotta bust qualities about him too.
Beginning with the fact he looks like my mailman.
