He was apparently rushed to the hospital? they don't do that for a torn ACL. We may have another Ware situation. It would have to be significant and acute trauma (read as bleeding) for a hospital rush.

I feel so terrible for him.

Such a dumb penalty.

Canes announcers said he never left the bldg, which i thought was odd considering... they said he was treated there? Maybe they got bad info?
I'll have to go check now.
If ware was a hockey player, he only would have had a "lower body" injury. :/

yeah, rare to see a stretcher for an ankle or knee or something, usually they are just helped off. But he looked like he was in a shitload of pain.

Stupid NHL Board of Governors, no-touch icing is in all the junior leagues and international play, it should be in both the AHL and NHL.

it was the ankle them

to be clear, there was nothing dirty at all, not even in the least, on the part of the Capital that was trying to beat the icing. Was a completely clean play, both players just skating hard as they could, and Joni was not able to stop for whatever reason his edge didn't hold. So slammed the boards blade first (while standing, not like he fell and was sliding) into the bottom of the boards.

Canes announcers telestrated it... when they hit the circle, Joni had a clear lead and the ref was in perfect position.
Hybrid icing would have prevented this shattered ankle.

There is no good reason to not have at least hybrid icing. I'm perfectly fine with no-touch icing too.

Disagree about hybrid icing. Hybrid icing adds another human element for refs to screw up and it won't eliminate all races into the boards. Automatic icing is the way to go. It doesn't ruin the game one bit.

Feel bad for Pitkanen. Hopefully he has no setbacks in his recovery.

$100 says Grapes goes ape shit about this Saturday as he should. It makes no sense at all. I hope this guy recovers but that sure as hell looked fucking nasty to me.

What point does the center line serve at that point? No icing, no two line pass. Then you just have a random line running through the ice because lol it's in the middle. No reason for it al - wait.


It also makes it a bit too easy to change in the first/third, although with all the too many men penalties the Flyers keep taking this year, maybe that's not so bad...

I'd prefer hybrid, but the removing the refs point makes me think no touch would be fine too. No touch also has the benefit of not killing off as much time in those late game turtlefests, giving the behind team a slightly better chance to get back into it.

They could make other rules base around that line. Like designate either side of it the "offensive" zone for hand passes and delay of game shooting it over the glass penalties.

Icing being only from behind the blue line would almost completely eliminate the trap. All you have to do is get the puck out and you can fire it down and let your speedy guys go get it.
