Good topic Dad, was thinking the same thing. They are talking on the radio like Kerrigan is still hurt, what is his injury anyway? Smith is a bit concerning but he's only played 3 games.

But yeah this was supposed to be a strength.

We definitely need more production out of this group. Last week was tough. Eli was getting rid if the ball very quickly. Expect more of the same from philly.

Anybody who thought that Kerrigan was going to "step up" his game must be feeling quite disappointed at this time. I was against redoing his contract as quickly as it was done, simply because I wanted to see if he indeed had another gear. Nice guy, good citizen, and a nice piece to have on any football team. Unfortunately, what this team needs are more difference makers. There was a reason that the reaction to J. Gallet being lost struck the team as deeply as it did. He would have been that type of player.

Smith needs to play more. Murphy offers nothing in the pass rush. Yes Kerrigan is having a slow start. Stymiette against redoing Kerrigans contract? What? There is no way we are going to lose him.

Don't forget that I wrote that I was against redoing his contract as quickly as it was done. There was plenty of time.

I think Kerrigan is hurt plain n simple. Far as re-doing Kerrigan's contract too soon, I disagree. I'm glad they got a deal done early. IMO Kerigan showed that he earned it.

Maybe the injury has to do with having a heavier wallet:dhd:

What nobody mentioned is they are playing a different defense. I think there could be something to Kerrigan being hurt also. He didn't play a down in preseason because they wanted to be cautious after he had that knee surgery in the spring.

all i am saying is we need more from those guys

i am not anti kerrigan by any means

i didnt put pressures up because i didnt have complete stats for all of them but murphy leads the OLBS in pressures with 3 credited . but its unfair for me to go after the others if i dont have the facts and his 3 credited may not be the leader

Seriously though. That's what I've been thinking far as RK not playing in the preseason and being hurt.

I don't disagree. I just think there's a valid reason why we haven't seen the production we're used to out of Kerrigan. Maybe it has more to do with what Sportster said....playing a new defense.

I do know they kept him out of preseason play because they were being cautious with injury concern. And Kerrigan's too much of a high motor/high character guy to be dogging it for any reason including getting paid.

I have watched him bull rush a number of times without getting to the QB. Barry has implemented a D that relies on playing zone and rallying to tackle quickly. We are asking the opposing team to get rid of the ball quickly and to throw underneath. Sort of like the old bend but don't break defenses people often refer to. Attempt to make teams use 10 - 15 play drives to score.

I wrote this way back in the thread:

biggest difference maker on defense
Discussion in 'Washington Redskins' started by skinsdad62, Jun 20, 2015.

I'm going to make a prediction in the opposite direction. Kerrigan will be a weak spot this year and there will be much debate as to what to do with him. Well before the season even starts, I'm stating flatly that he should never be in pass coverage. The guy is at his best with his hand in the dirt going forward. Because this team will show improvement at other spots along the line because of personnel changes, other weaknesses will surface. Kerrigan in coverage will one of them. Write it down, book mark it or take note, you heard it from me first.

Is Kerrigan hurt, is he a little rusty or is he missing Brian Barker?
