What's your gut feeling on the Cutler situation?

I'm not asking what you think we SHOULD do. I'm asking what you think will happen. Quite frankly, I'm really sick of debating the topic and just want this over with.

I honestly have zero freaking clue what the Bears are going to do. If I had a gut feeling, I'd shout it out, but I am truly stumped when it comes to trying to get inside of Emery's head on this one.

The impact goes far beyond the Bears. If Cutler is released there's little to no trade market for Shaub or Bradford who are on non-guaranteed contracts of $10M and $14M respectively. If Cutler is released the Texans and Rams may feel that releasing their QBs is the best way to get value for money. If Cutler re-signs Bradford won't hit the market and Schaub has trade value. Either way the top of the Draft will be massively affected.

For what it's worth I think the Bears should and will re-sign Cutler. Within a few years Manning, Brady, Brees, etc will retire and the golden era of QBs will be gone. It's difficult to predict who the top 5 or 6 QBs will be 3 years from now.

My feeling is he stays............i don`t think there are better options out there.

i just hope we don`t over pay.

i read on the General Board somewheres, wher the redskins may trade Cousins.
That maybe an option, but not sure its a better one.

so far its already a 7 year deal, no word on dollars yet. Slausen and Jennings are also resigned.

Wooten needs to be looked at, other than that I say we gotta play Greene so if Briggs is still here put him on the other side and bring in competition for Bostic.

7 year deal... Good signing, we can move on to fix the D. Frankly, the Bears can win a SB with him, especially when you consider Dilfer and Brad Johnson both managed to win SuperBowls or that Rex got us to one.

Everyone knows you don't need the 85 Bears defense to win a Super Bowl anymore.

but you do realize you still have to stop the other team from scoring right? Well, here are the last super bowl winners, its 6-6 over the past 12 of better offense or defense, I guess we are just old chicago fans that prefer defense over offense.

2013 Baltimore 12th defense 29th ranked offense
2012 ny giants 31st defense 14th ranked offense
2011 packers 31st defense 3rd ranked offense
2010 saints 4th defense 6th ranked offense
2009 steelers 5th ranked defense 7th ranked offense
2008 giants 5th ranked defense 7th ranked offense
2007 colts 3rd ranked defense 5th ranked offense
2006 steelers 9th ranked defense 7th ranked offense
2005 patriots 26th ranked defense 7th ranked offense
2004 patriots 9th ranked defense 7th ranked offense
2003 tampa bay 5th ranked defense 10th ranked offense
2002 patriots 23rd ranked defense 21st ranked offense

I guess neither side can say better offense or defense wins more superbowls, just seems like most losers over the past 12 were held to fewer than 20 points.

Bears are close to winning the Norris Division, why not stay with Cutler despite his recent injury history...who the fuck else are you going to get who can immediately come in and perform to the Bears standards?

I know you guys are still fuming about this year, but look at next year and the year after that....in my OP Cutler still gives you guys the BEST CHANCE at winning your division NOW...be patient, Cutlers contract won't be yours for to much longer.

Gawd I love the NFC NORTH DIVISION :yahoo:

Best-o-luck to you and yours this New Years Bear fans...:suds:

Exactly what I was going to say. It isn't easy to find a QB in the NFL. I figure if you don't stick with Cutler, you risk years of losing as you try to find your next qb. If I were a Bears fan, I would just be frustrated that this was the only real option with the lowest risk but expensive.

Your list has a few errors...

For example... Packers won Super Bowl on Feb. 6th 2011... but you are using their 2011 regular season rankings to make your point. The Packers team that won the Super Bowl on Feb. 6th 2011 had #9 offense (yards) and #5 defense.

Same with Saints... you have their defense ranking from 2010 regular season, the 2009 Saints won Super Bowl in Feb. 2010 with #25 defense and #1 offense.

You did see his name didn't you?

When the Colts were in the super bowl against the Bears their defense was ranked pretty low and the Bears offense and defense were ranked a bit higher...
