How about potential great SB's that as fans, we were robbed of. I'm sure a lot of people would've liked to have seen the 1998 Vikings take on those Broncos instead of the Dirty Turds. When Atlanta beat Minn., I kinda felt they had ruined a SB...before the game was even played. It turned out to be a pretty non-eventful game.

Another one I can think of is Dallas/Denver back in 1978.....that shoulda been a Cowboy/Raider SB which given those franchises back in the day, woulda been a classic. The Broncos ruined that one for sure.

Destroying those tapes eliminates any chance of clearing their name IMO.
Okay that's fine. Although they don't really have a name to clear in regards to the walkthrough taping. They admitted to taping signals in the games, and we've seen a lot of those tapes. The only report of taping the walkthrough was redacted and apologized for. If anyone believes it happened, it's because they want to believe it.

Here are the two greatest Robberies to prevent a team from the Super Bowl.

Raiders vs Patriots, 1976 Divisional Round. Pats would still have had to beat Pittsburgh.

So, since the offenders didn't admit to it, it didn't happen? I'm not giving the benefit of the doubt there.

Regardless, my main point was the out-of-bounds call on the final drive. That has bothered me since the moment it happened lol.

No that's not what I said. I said the whole story was redacted, no one admitted it, the NFL denied it ever happened, and there's 0 evidence it ever happened. The only reason to believe it happened is because you would like to believe it happened.

And I agree on the out of bounds play, but that likely doesn't change the outcome since they would have spiked it.

Getting to the line and spiking the ball takes time. They attempted the winning FG with only a few seconds on the clock. The outcome is definitely in question IMO. All the play calls thereafter could've been different as well.

Could have been, but they had 7 seconds left when they spiked it to attempt the field goal. Maybe they lost the Wiggins, 6-yard catch prior to the FG. Is that still good from 54?

Vinatieri only attempted 2 FG from 50+ that season (1-1), tough to know.

Sure, the only 50 yarder he missed was in Heinz Field, a bad place for a kicker. But it certainly is more in question.

They probably lose 10-11 seconds spiking the ball. So they line up on the Rams 36 with 10 seconds to go, instead of 21. They probably make one attempt at a sideline play and then kick from 54 if they don't get it. More than likely, I think Vinatieri drills it.

And, as the opposing fan, I think he doesn't, lol.

There can be only one correct answer to this question. It is the price of concessions.

Biggest SB robberies? First ones that come to mind...

Pats over Rams
Steelers over Seahawks
Ravens over Niners

I'll never forget the 1983 NFCCG between the Skins and the Niners. The Niners were robbed of going to the SB that year by two horrible calls late in the 4th quarter (PI and holding), essentially giving the Skins the win. Then again, the Skins getting crushed by the Raiders in the SB made me feel a little better.

Score more than 17 in regulation then.

Doesn't exactly have much to do with whether or not Vinatieri makes a 54 yard FG if needed in the Super Bowl, but sure. Mad Mike was a terrible head coach and he abandoned Marshall Faulk in the game plan.

Vinatieri makes it, he wasn't missing no matter what. And yeah I think Marv Levy said the same thing about Super Bowl 25. Thurman Thomas had just 15 rushing attempts and he got 9 yards/carry. Panicked after the Giants got the double score.

A huge for the Bills vs the Giants was that marathon drive the Giants had the took up 9 minutes of the 3rd quarter. Bills seemed to press after that.

And the 7 minute drive to take the lead for good to start the 4th.
