If they don't make the playoffs I expect someone to lose their job

The Mariners have a very good rotation...maybe the best in the AL West. Felix, Iwakuma, Paxton, Walker. Keep in mind they gave up the least amount of runs in the AL last year. That's pretty impressive. Easy to see why people are high on them.

Easy to say now, but it's a long season. If Cano went down with an injury and felix blew his arm out, who knows.

On paper anything short of the playoffs would be very disappointing. But things on paper in early April don't always translate to October.

True but if they stay healthy they should at least make it to the 1 game playoffs. The East is only getting one team most likely and the Central would probably get 2 which means the West should get 2 as well and those 2 should be the Angels & Mariners

the things national writers say about teams they rarely even acknowledge exist should never be taken seriously

their predictions about the m's this year are categorically hysterical.

they're nothing compared to the east coast MLB fans on here who know pretty much zero about anything related to baseball outside of the past 3-5 years for their own teams.

If they stay healthy is all I was adding.

You know your team will have injuries, and the most worrisome are those to your starting pitchers, or key pitchers anyway. On a team that relies so heavily on pitching and defense it wouldn't take much to send them into a bad skid with the right injury.

Barring key injuries the team should make the playoffs or the fans should consider it a blown year. They were a game out of making the 1 game playoff last year and have added depth to the rotation and a couple of bats. It's time to see jack z's house come together.

Cant bet on the Mariners don't know how many runs they can score, I have never seen a team that has as many weak hitting 1st baseman as the Mariners.

Bad luck..... Look at What Morales has done this year in KC already.... that would of been about 3 months worth of production last year for seattle.

Cruz is on a roll lately, but I found it odd that they would intent walk on Cano when Cruz is at good at hitting. Yes I know that he strikeout in the previous innings, but after a good low pitch or so Cruz saw it and hit for the winning run. It is a good win for the Mariners.

Oh, heads are gonna roll!

The Mariners finally add some offense and more times than not so far this season, they've given up more runs than they could score. It's safe to say the pitching staff is underachieving, because Mariners fans know what the guys in the starting rotation and bullpen are capable of. I know it's still early, but they need to get their butts in gear or yeah, somebody's going to be looking for a job.

Were talking about quentin on the M's board. Seems the team already has its share of corner outfield right handed hitters.....

Mariners have been a train wreck since they came into the league, save for the mid-1990's and the early 2000's for a grand total of 4 (tops) years in their existence. King Felix should have bailed years ago. He'll never see postseason in Seattle. Robbie Cano and Nelson Cruz have both seen enough "glory" that they both can take the money and run, underneath the media radar in Seattle.

"Fans" need to stay the hell away from Safeco!!!

Honestly, its a bit of a weird uncomfortable feeling reading all the positive reports and previews. SI just ranked them third behind only WA and LA. As a lifelong Mariner fan who's sat through bobble head nights and relivings of the 95 team over and over again. I just dont know how to feel.

On paper they look real solid, but again games aren't played on paper. Whats the national perspective?

SI failed miserably
