I prefer a one gap D versus 2 gap. You have to read and react in a 2 gap system. In the one gap system it is simple, here is your gap ATTACK!! Takes the guss work out.


The secondary piece you have is basic defenses run in the NFL. For whatever reason DBs under Haslett and Morris were constantly blowing assignments. Not every play but two to three times a game and most often the team paid for it. You can't play just man coverage or you'll get picked apart. the hope is that whoever they bring in to go along with what is already there will be able to pickup the concepts and not get lost or blow and assignment. You have to give different looks to the opposing offense or they will just pick you apart.
