What we need going forward

THis team needs to bring in for once, a defensive minded HC. Some one who is going to make the defense a priority this coming offseason and follow that up with a commitment to fixing the Offensive line.

I dont expect any GM to be more than a figure head because Dan is going to want more input after four years of supposed shut up and write the Checks Dan. My biggest fear right now is Snyder falling into old habits of lets win the preseason headlines title again. We are gonig to be all in the news this off season for once again all the wrong reasons. Lets hope like hell they get the HC and OC hirings right. Some one with enough juice to control the Dan a little.... or this could get even worse.

Are you proposing Lovie Smith? I for one would not mind Jay Gruden and trust that he would bring in a defensive minded coach. Just a thought.

value our draft picks

keep the cap in order and dont over pay for aging players

sign FA's that are 28 or younger

phillips could be a choice if we stay with the 3-4 as a dc

We need Shannahan to stay and finish out his contract. How can he be fairly evaluated when he was cleaning up cap hell for 2 years only to get slapped with a penalty and have 2 more years of cap hell. The man needs a fair chance to field a team with a competitive salary. The guys he did bring in through free agency were mostly second tier free agents that have performed well relative to their contracts. Also he has done well in the draft the last 4 years. When he traded for RG3 at that particular time he had no idea they would hit the team with the cap penalty otherwise the trade obviously would not have happened.

Bill Pollian said the worst thing that could happen to RG3 is to change systems going into this off-season because it would be very detrimental to his development.

Also, If you do get another coach how do they pick the coach? Snyder will interview candidates and say what are you going to do to make Robert a better QB. But of course any good bullshitter that knows some football lingo will be able to blow smoke up the owners ass. The point is that Dan is not qualified to give the interview and in the past Dan has surrounded himself with a bunch of yes men and baffoons. The only way it could work is if he gave a famed GM complete control like a Bill Polian who would then pick the coach without interference from Dan at all. But doubtful that will happen either. I think we all better hope that he can keep Shanny 1 more year because otherwise well get the salary cap money back just in time to blow it. Plus if Shanny gets fired because Dan wants to undermine the coaches authority over RG3 then RG3 will never develop because he will never be disciplined.

Your reply actually sounds like something that would be stated by Snyder! Why does it have to be a "famed GM"? Why not someone who was something like an asst GM for a successful organization? That is how a lot of teams do it & it often works out well. The idea of getting a name GM to me sounds just like always trying to hire a famous or ex-SB coach. That is not the only route & quite often is a bad way to go.

BTW - Polian also made a lot of bad moves during his time.
