Is York this much of a douche that nobody wants to work there??? It appears that everyone that talks to them just walks away thinking no flipping way...

Rumor on the Atlanta front is the Miners are waiting on Shanahan and potentially hiring his pops as GM to work with him

The 49ers probably informed other candidates that they were not chosen to give them a way out.

Also, the rumors are not that his dad will be GM, But Wolf from Green Bay will.

The magnitude of Jed York's douchiosity can't be measured with existing technology. We'll need a few years for the science to catch up with him.

A couple of guys from GB talked with SF for the GM job and there reports that both did well. Not sure what has transpired after that though. I'm hoping Wolf can replace TT as the GM in 2018.

The other Green Bay candidate not Wolf is supposed to be the front runner. They are supposed to talk with Shanahan next week to discuss GM candidates. That is what was reported late today

Another reason could be that these candidates were all informed that Shanahan was the choice and were allowed to renounce their respective candidacies. It's now widely reported that Shanahan will be the next HC of the 49ers, but of course.....I wouldn't be surprised if it still blows up in their face and they're left holding their dicks.

Breaking local news is that Elliot Wolf signed a new deal with GB and is out of the running for the 49er job

don't understand why he wasn't targeting a GM first, then letting the GM pick the HC

a little backwards there

Big coaching hires often choose their GM.

It's probably just a matter of the Niners waiting around to interview Shanahan, and the other candidates have come to their senses. The Niners job in general is a great job, but not under the current circumstances. That roster has fallen so far from their SB appearance, and the last few hires have been fired after short stays.

Because a well run franchise would do it your way which SF is not. They could also be planning on making the new HC the GM too.

In the past, giving even experienced coaches GM power has backfired on some teams. I can't imagine giving that responsibility to a first-time HC, but then again Jed York is in charge; under his stewardship, the 49ers are kinda like the Bizzaro World of the NFL right now...

It'd certainly make things interesting if Shanahan said no, too.

That would be a massive "fuck off" if he did. The part of this that makes no sense is why are they hiring a coach and don't have a GM in place. Does the GM know this is the coach and too bad for him? Seems like an ass backwards deal...or am I missing something...

Pretty sure they tea bag the candidates and they suck.....

SF is far from any place a guy with aspirations and more than 2 active brain cells would want to go.

Actually, if you're an aspiring GM with a real plan and get to enact your plan, why not? Now, if York says he's going to be involved in your plan and will be included in the decisions where his word is final, anybody with any intelligence tells him to pound sand.

I thought I just said that.

I could never work for a Jed York.

Jed is way too close the Chet.....

The best thing that could happen to the 9ers is that the Yorks sell the team. It doesn't look like they will anytime soon. Kyle looks be the new HC and will aide in picking the GM, possibly Brian Gutekunst if the rumors hold true.
