Rob Ryan has a long history in football. He's coached a lot of different positions and systems. He's worked with a lot of good people. He spoke with the Rams about the DC job. He agreed to take over with the 4-3 as the primary system and keep the current Rams personnel. The team would use Ryan's coverage and blitz schemes with Ryan making the defensive calls. He was happy with that. Ryan talked things over with friends and family and reached the conclusion that if his defense failed with the Rams he was unlikely to ever get another DC or HC opportunity in the NFL. His decision was that if he was going to fail he wanted it to be on his own terms with his preferred 3-4 system and him making the defensive decisions. He talked to the Rams and informed them of his decision. There were no bad feelings on either side. At least this is how Ryan portrayed it.

....and the Saints have the #6 current ranked D and are 4-0....go figure.

I can see the Rams getting beat by the Jags and OH MY God, like it would be a shock! Just add it to the other milestones we have as a screwed up organization and team. The Rams lose, I start burning Ram stuff. First thing to go, my Rams flag! LOL.
