But maybe, JUST MAYBE the league should try giving the refs resources needed to get the calls right before it's too late to fix it. A fifth official off ice who can at least rule on things that should have been whistled dead, maybe.

I mean since they are firing all the refs they will need to call up AHL refs. But hey I think the NHL should retroactively strip the Dallas stars of the cup win and award the sabres FOOT IN THE CREASE!!! Handpass is the new foot in the crease but it didn’t cost someone a Stanley cup immediately

Steve Kouleas on Sirius NHL Radio was hammering what he called the "eye in the sky" yesterday. Echoing what you're saying here. Basically, a fifth official in "the box" to signal the on ice officials of any missed infraction(s).
