But how many players in any sport get tons of money like that and not get tremendous numbers the year they sign the contract. Bottom line Wallace made the Dolphins offense very dynamic and scary with his long threat ability

He had an impact..got it...but was it worth 60M?!!?

I don't think so.

No player really is worth the contract they get!!!?!?!

Let's look at A-rod and Prince Fielder... Not worth all the money they got... Neither was Carl Crawford... It is the nature of sports... players get a ton of money

Don't get me started on how over inflated contracts are in baseball and how badly that sport needs a salary cap. Not one where a team pays a 'luxury tax' but a hard cap like the NFL has.

Some players ARE worth the money they get.

Or are you saying Tom Brady isn't worth his money? Or Welker his few million a year?

Some guys are WAY over paid (Flacco, Romo, etc) but you signed them to a long term deal because they might be worth it in the future.

With FA's you're paying for now. Wallace was not worth the money he got paid - it's that simple.

A team like Miami can't get quality free agents without overpaying them. They don't have the same leverage as a team with a front office known to keep their team in position to win year after year, and have to pay a premium for talent.

If Wallace was on the {Patriots he most likely would have had 10-15 TDs and then this would not be an issue. Just because the guy didn't get that many TDs with the Dolphins he sucks? Again people what are you not getting? He was the most talented one out there and the Fins needed talent and they PAID to get it, period.. Market dictated it...

Why does this have to be a patriots thing?

Wallace is worth nowhere near 12 million a year to New England. I'd be mad if they gave him 8.

I'm not saying he would have been. Just saying that becuase people are saying he wasn't worth it because he only had 4 TDs and I was saying he would have more if he was with the Pats thats all.

Wait...so you'd have been willing to pay more for Wallace then Welker?

Wallace does more as a primary option than Welker.

But I didn't want either here.

Where the hell are you getting that from?

Simply saying that people claim not worth it because he had 4 td's and I said he would have gotten more with the Patriots. No where did I say I wanted him on the patriots or they should have gotten him

Trent Richardson was traded midseason and if he is making more than $50 a game, he is way over paid.

The Browns' front office is a perpetual dumpster fire, but getting a 1st round pick for TR from the Dolts might be the move of the year (unless they pick a guy the day after his obituary appears in the Cleveland paper, which isn't out of the realm of possibility for Larry, Mo and Curly).

Some QBs are.

At WR you need a lot more than a mike Wallace though IMO. Fitz, Calvin, sure. A few others, maybe. Mike Wallace? They knew they were paying him too much. But a team like Miami doesn't have a choice. Their only draw is a willingness to overpay. Same with Ellerbe, as an example. If they offered similar value to Baltimore, he stays there. You have to add to fair value for guys to come to you.

Good points...the cap is the cap, and in most cases teams spend to the limit...Tannehil on rookie contract allows them to spend more in other areas...my thing with MIA is they are plugging too many holes with FAs...good pieces not far from a playoff team.

LOL...Is it two picks in each of the 1st three rounds? I know it's good...very good....lot of options. I might take a stab @ Cutler and go QB later in the draft.

The table is now set...hou, stl, jax, cle...good chance hou, and jax take the 1st two qbs off the board, thought to be Bridgewater & Carr. STL I'm thinking will pick Clowney.

CLE...on the clock

When Welker was on their team the Pats couldn't gobble enough of him....

"What a GREAT scouting job by BB!".....etc...

but now that he's a Bronco...

"Oh, we didn't really need him"...."we were smart to let him get away"....'The Broncos fans just can't gobble enough'....

Is anyone but Pats fans buying their own bullshit on Welker?

Does anyone else but them believe they're really better off without him?

Midnight...newsflash for you. Besides Brady, Pats don't "need" anybody. Edleman made 100+ catches this year with clutch hands.

Wes' attitude was becoming an issue apparently. That's goodbye time.

oh hell, every fanbase does this...when he's your guy, he's the best ever. as soon as he goes somewhere else it ranges from meh, we didn't need him to he was a bum anyway...

just see our fellow Steelers fans and Mike Wallace.

I was never like that with Mike. I knew he was doing what was best for him.

Wes Welker was definutely worth it, also another underrated signing was Brent Grimes for the Dolphins. Pro Bowler this year and was a great Falcon during his time here.
