Name a FA that got away in the offseason and was resigned by another team and ask if they were worth the money. It can be your team or someone else's.
Mike Wallace. Signed with the Dolphins for 5 years and $60M. Looking at his stats...
4 TD's, 905 yards, averages 60 yards per game.
He'll hit 1,000 for the year but if I'm paying a guy that much money you've gotta come up with more than 4 TD's, IMHO. Wasn't worth it.
James Harrison. Reportedly he wanted a hair more than we were willing to give. I think he ended up with about 4M a year.
Stats...30 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 INT. 2nd lowest total of his career.
Nope...not worth it.
Ed Reed. Signed a 3 year deal for 15M with 5M guaranteed. No need to look at the stats...he was cut. Resigned by the Jets...not sure if that's a negative or a positive.
Wasn't worth it.
Wes Welker. Believe it or not his contract isn't as much as one might think. 2 years and 12 million. Ed got a better deal. IMHO the Pats let their ego's get the better of them and lost HUGE on this one. Right about now they'd be willing to give him his weight in gold.
Stats...
73 receptions, 778 yards, with 10 TD's.
These stats will be his end of the year stats as he's inactive for this game.
His presence has allowed other WR's to get some serious catches as Welker is going to draw coverage no matter what.
Yeah, he was worth every penny. Hell, at this point the Pats would be willing to pay him 5M just to stay OFF the Broncos roster and not play at all.
Steven Jackson. He was supposed to be the missing piece to the puzzle down in the dirty. 12M for 3 years with 4M guaranteed.
Through 11 games he only had 502 yards and 6 TD's. Granted his average was 4.9 a carry. Thing is, he'd been putting up about double those numbers in St. Louis.
Don't think he was worth it.
Who am I missing?
