Charges were dropped today... Banderas will go to pre-trial diversion as a result and pending completion of the program the charges will not be refiled and his record will not reflect the charges either. I would guess he gets a game suspension or so just to send a message.

No the average person would leave those bikes alone. And realize 1600 bucks isn't worth shit to what you would be throwing away. But then the average person wouldn't get a slap on the wrist either.

If the average person has already been convicted of a felony or has had a felony reduced to a misdemeanor and the d.a. rejects them, and this average person is being charged with a violent crime then yeah they wouldn't be eligible for the pre-trial diversion program.

Bu I suspect the average person has not been convicted of a felony, is not being charged with a violent crime, is eligible for the pre-trial diversion program and will get a lawyer with the minimum knowledge of the law to get them in this program.

This is standard ops for Nebraska. If you haven't been in trouble before and can keep your nose clean they will dismiss the charges for the average person.

Honestly my first thought was kick the stupid shit off the team and get someone with half a brain in that schollie but then I remembered what I was like at 17 and a judge that gave me the chance to choose between joining the army and straightening my life out or spending some time in the county jail.

Yeah kids (yeah he's a kid to me at 50+) are stupid and do things that a reasonable person would shake their heads at but usually a good scare puts them back on the right track. We'll see if it does with him.

This. Pretrial diversion isn't much fun either but it's certainly more fun than a felony. I got an MIP when I was 20 and was able to get it off my record. That wasn't a felony obviously but he's not getting any special treatment.

I personally think stealing someone's property, especially to the tune of $1600, is quite a big deal.

I also believe that he is slapping the rest of his team in the face by doing something as idiotic as that.

I agree with your first statement and like oak said the pre-trial diversion is no walk in the park. It just keeps one stupid mistake from being a black spot on you for the rest of your life. A felony means no voting, no gun ownership no to most career level positions. One stupid mistake following you the rest of your life.

As for the second statement I doubt he even thought of his team mates when he did this but you are right in that his actions have brought ridicule on the team as a whole. Interestingly it will likely be them who decide his punishment.

A final note, this story has not seemed to grow legs outside of Nebraska. I have heard nothing from anyone hear regarding it. That is good and bad. Good I don't have to take the ribbing for it as a Nebraska fan, bad Nebraska is not relevant enough for this to be a story outside of Nebraska anymore.
