Jalen Carter should’ve been a top 5 pick, it was a steal that the Eagles got him where they did. He’s a dominant force on the D-Line. I guess he fell some because of off the field concerns but he should’ve gone in the top 5 IMO.
And yeah I expected DeJean and Mitchell to both go in the first round last year and was impressed that the Eagles got them both.
In general what I'm seeing is that the Eagles take good risks and because they take good risks it puts them in a position to take complimentary good risks. Far too often you can sink into a no-risk mindset with drafting. No point in that. You dont want a team full of average players.

I had Quinyon Mitchell #9 overall and at #15 I had Cooper DeJean in my draft predictions. The Eagles drafted them at #22 and #40. Thats a gained value roughly equal to the 8th overall pick just by taking falling players relative to my board.

Jalen Carter went #9 overall. Probably should've been expected to go pick 4 or pick 5 at the latest. That roughly a value of pick 31 which is where the Chiefs are drafting 1st round this year.

So when the Eagles go from the worst defense to the best, I have to ask why other teams aren't noticing all of the value the Eagles have been accruing in the draft?

McShay is finally back on TV, ( well Youtube podcast) and they are doing a series with current GM's interviewing and these GM's are being as open as can be. I think everyone has their own different grading system, their own scouting routines, their own big board philosophies and this is were these teams are different.
I believe they all set there minds to finding that franchise QB and letting him just be the savor for the team.

Yeah, I think I saw a youtube video where he did a brief overview of his big board. I actually have him as one of the four or five people I still try and follow. I thought he routinely had better info than Kiper.

Every GM does have different styles. Its just that the Eagles I think are more fascinating than most because they have really done well after Wentz and not getting Justin Jefferson. Its fascinating to look at. Many GMs do kinda make 1 or 2 moves that make their career. Eagles kept making progressively better and better moves that complimented the previous moves they made. I kinda lol'd at Kollman's 'Eagles are changing how teams are being built' video from the Nick Foles SB but the moves they're making have a deep knowledge in how football works and what identity they want.

Thank You Sir,
Are fans surprised Nick Sirianni leads the most successful time in the history of the Eagles?
and a quick follow up question, If I could...
Is Sirianni now considered the best football coach in the history of Eagles football?

OH...and a sincere congrats to you for the team's second championship.
As long as Siriani is surrounded by solid coordinators, yes he can become the best eagles coach.

I believe the Eagles drafting is based of off:
1. The owner Mr Lurie being a patient and a believer in the core values they want for a team
2. Howie knowing he screwed up on Jalen Regor and Andrew Dillard draft picks and evolving himself as a GM and learning from those mistakes.

You can ask any Eagles fans, the last 7 years one thing Howie has undervalued is the RB and LB positions.
Now some where last off season or as I like to put it the turn came during the Eagles slide, there became a serious serious self evaluation top to bottom in that organization on how to get back to being one of the best teams in the league

Open the floor for questions now.
Im sure a lot of you have questions about how the Eagles pulled this off, again.

Does the fact that the refs carried the Chiefs on their backs to the super bowl diminish this win for the Eagles?

I like to think Howie took a step back and really started to listen to the scouts and used their evaluations the past couple of years since the drafts have gotten better.

LB no excuse to undervalue that position but RB's can be had in the mid rounds and on the cheap. On the flip side of that statement, the Barkley signing will probably go down as his best signing to date.

It is not just choosing plsyers it is developing with the right coaching. Fangio is the best defensive coordinator in the league. Acquiring him, Barkley and hitting on the draft made them the champions.

He is definitely up there. That was Fangios first win against the Chiefs in many tries IIRC so I do think there is a lot more going on there.

I know some of you will laugh, but many of us in Philly are STILL not sure about Sirianni. Listen for a second.

The guy benefited from an absolutely stacked roster of draft picks and free agents that he was basically handed by Howie Roseman. That's the real success story here, Howie being a GM long enough thanks to Jeff Lurie to grow into the job and become the master of the front office game right now.

For better or worse, Lurie and Roseman are involved in selecting coordinators, and they reportedly played a big role in the bad ones Philly had last year. But they corrected that by keeping Nick but giving him Vic Fangio (who has been a consultant for the Eagles and had a relationship with the owner) and Kellen Moore this time.

And of course Howie signed Saquon. Howie is more important to the Eagles than Sirianni and it's not particularly close.

I think Howie got an ear full from Jeffery that his drafting has been sub par to average and needed to start trusting his scouts which I believe he has since the last 2 drafts have been solid. It wasn't that long ago most fans wanted Howie out.

Siriani needed real coordinators for help. He should have been fired last year for the end of the year debacle. With Kellen Moore leaving it'll be interesting who'll replace him and hopefully not hand the play calling to Nick.

Fangio was 0-8 against Mahomes and Reid before this. This is the first time he beat those guys.

But as some KC posters said, his scheme at Denver had actually given Mahomes some issues, he just lacked the overall players at that time.

Fangio's two-high safety shell scheme, which teaches not letting anyone get deep and running downhill to the ball in front of you, is the best anyone has devised so far to stop modern passing games, which is why so many of his disciples have jobs in the league right now.

and remaining relativity healthy.

Barkley health was the biggest of it all.
Granted they had Hurts out, AJ was hurting, Oline had injuries, Goedert as usual.
But Saquon was my biggest concern when they signed him, a lot of miles put on him in NY.

I was pretty indifferent on who'd win, but I did say two things before the game (on this forum, somewhere). The Chiefs would stop Barkley, and Mahomes would struggle because Philly is one of the lower blitzing teams in the league yet they still generate pressure. Mahomes abuses teams that blitz. I was right on both.

What I didn't think would happen was the Chiefs getting utterly gutted like that. The game was very reminiscent of Seattle vs. Denver. Denver of course had a historic offense, but Seattle at the time didn't blitz much and just used front 4 pressure and Manning couldn't do F all with it. The energy in the stadium when the Eagles came out was also reminiscent of Seattle getting a lot of cheers/hype from the crowd. The pick 6 (also happened that Super Bowl) and just constant pressure was just kind of game over by half.

It really was like watching Seattle/Denver all over again. Weird case of deja vu.

Now that all said, you Eagles posters behave yourself over the coming months. I don't want to hear non-stop how great the fuckin' Eagles are... ...........

The NFL Films stuff is going to be epic here, given their connections to Philly (studio is in Jersey and full of Philly fans).
