What do yall think about the upcoming season?

Well, I'd have to say cautiously optimistic. I like what we have on offense, but the tackle position against speed rushers is always a difficult one to project. Qvale and Sirles have really stepped up but we'll need Finnin to really be something in order for me to feel more secure there. I think we'll be okay at the Center position and I like Jake Cotton at Guard (and Ryne Reeves when he gets back).

On defense, I love our athleticism. Long, quick, fast and hard hitting guys that play with their hair on fire. Randy Gregory is going to need to step up in a big way his first year on campus and our failure to nab any JUCO DTs will be felt all season long. Hard to project what the front seven will do, but if they can at least be servicable we'll be okay.

Secondary has a lot of quality. Jonathan Rose is a guy to watch for sure and Mo Seisay had the best spring of any CB aside from Ciante Evans. Corey Cooper has emerged as the starter at safety for sure, had a fantastic spring, but the other starting position is up for grabs. I think Charles Jackson ends up there.

All in all, I like this team, but I don't love it. If we had a more difficult schedule I would say we'd probably finish between 8-4 and 9-3 regular season. As it is I see us losing to UCLA and possible Michigan matching up against OSU in the conference championship game. 10-2 regular season for me.

 You can post a whole lot of things on this site, but nipples, vag, and cock are frowned upon.

Make no mistake though, we are a lewd and vulgar bunch here.

hello everyone, another cbs exile member here. glad to see a couple of the old gang from cbs here. Anyways, to be honest, like Nut, I am here checking it out and the what not. Site has a good layout, seems like a lot of activity in the Nebraska board, that's is always great. So, anyways, hello from a Husker fan living in NY.

Nut, hopefully the rest of the gang comes and join. We can finally get to the bottom of recruiting vs coaching and what record will get Bo fired this upcoming season.

Ha! Oh goodness... that conversation was like circular logic to its finest... I think I might let that die with CBS :argue:

I agree with your assessment of the O-Line.

As far as D-Line, I too was unhappy we couldn't grab a potential immediate impact player on the inside.

There are concerns about whether or not Gregory will even get here. He currently still has a lot of work to do academically to qualify and make it to campus in the fall.

Kevin Williams needs to step up and Randle needs to get healthy and stay healthy. I really like the look of some of the young pups at DE and LB specifically Afalava, Rose, McMullen and Moss among others.

I'm not sold on Valentine. Lot of hype because of his size. He came into spring out of shape. He's had two years to get into playing shape and the coaches still say he's not ready to play a full game.

Gotta love the athleticism in the secondary. Lot's of rangy guys who can really run.

Still, I think Mitchell anchors one of the CB spots. The coaches really trust him. The other spot is anyone's guess. Seisay apparently showed out big time this spring. I think the experienced guys (Harvey Jackson, Corey Cooper) get the nod at safety in the beginning of the season and they will either play their way out of the job or a young talented guy like C.Jackson will play his way in.

That is almost to a T what i've been saying concerning the DL and secondary. I like Aaron Curry's athleticism down low much more than Valentine's but I am open to being proven wrong. He's not in shape, he's gotten better but he's not there yet. Word on the street is that McMullen has been looking really good too. But all those guys are super young. If teams want to run on us, especially early in the season, they're going to be able to. The recruiting class with Vestal, Okuyemi, Guy and Ashburn really set us back up front.

Funny you should mention that. Most of us here are pretty practical and reasonable about it. There are a lot of schools who get great recruiting and not so great coaching e.g. Texas and there's the opposite end of the spectrum where you have not so great recruiting and amazing coaching e.g. Northwestern.

Then you get the rare school that has great recruiting and great coaching, like Alabama.

The problem Nebraska has had as of late is that the recruiting has been average and the coaching has been, let's be honest here: Average.

Im hoping we have a great season. Which includes at least 1 big win on the road. I don't think I can handle another season full of road whippings from a "defensive" coach

Thats the big thing... the whippings. I can handle a loss if I feel like the team gave a good effort and looked properly prepared by the coaching staff. But, it seems like every year we have a game or two where the whole program just shits the bed and embarrasses itself. I can't tolerate that.
