It is pretty ironic he wasn't here to Funny my Hoop Top 25....wonder why? lmao.
I was wildly hungover and my fiancee's sister was in town, so I basically woke up and went straight to the basement to take another beating at the hands of the Browns.

I said they looked slow earlier this year and was told they weren’t. I’m sorry, but two weeks in a row I’ve watched RB’s get the edge and LB’s taking brutal angles or just getting swallowed up in the wash of the OL.

And the safeties are playing just as bad. As I said - Pryor was 10-12 yards from the line of scrimmage and STILL didn’t know the RB had the ball as he ran by him?!?
I refuse to believe that after having years of stud LBs and elite DBs that suddenly we've whiffed on a dozen 4/5* kids, so that points squarely at coaching. If Urban doesn't retire and comes back next year, he needs to overhaul that entire side of the ball. Kerry Coombs is sorely missed and Bill Davis is a fucking clown.

I’d say you have a pretty solid guy to teach technique for CB’s and LB’s. Schiano was a LB in college, coached DB’s at multiple stops in college and pro.

It is no different than Harbaugh at UM struggling to find a QB. Sometimes you just end up with guys who get overwhelmed in CFB or guys who got into such bad habits in HS that it is extremely difficult to break those habits.

Also, you can teach till you are blue in the face, but instincts can’t be taught. OSU LBs always seem a step slow and take terrible routes to the ball. And the safeties — all you have to do is watch Pryor on the 50 yard run for Purdue. He literally didn’t know the RB had the ball until he was running by him.

Now the penalties OSU had on late hits and roughing the punter — those are definitely on coaching. I woke up Sunday still laughing that a 300 lb DT did a somersault on purpose and hit the punter. ( mostly I was laughing because the punter was also the place holder who got wrecked on the fake FG — so that guy had to be hurting the next day)

It's becoming more and more obvious that Schiano was being propped up by Coombs and Fickell. His playcalling this year has been absolute trash. Constant man coverage with DBs backs to the QB running down the field. I mean, he had a LB playing man on Rondale Moore on multiple occasions Saturday Night. The LBs are constantly out of place, which leads to a lot of the horrible angles.

Pryor, yeah, he's been pretty bad all year long. We desperately need another Malik Hooker back there to step up. Fuller has been a disappointment. I just find it hard to believe that the same defense that put 5 DBs in the first round of the last 3 drafts suddenly has no talent. There are high-4*/5* guys all over the place, but their development just doesn't seem to be there, and when that happens all of the sudden out of nowhere, you have to look at what's going on Monday-Friday.

You don’t have high 4 star guys at LB — Between Werner, Borland and Harrison — they ranked anywhere from 250th to 675th in their respective HS recruiting classes.

Baron Browning was a 5*, #11 overall prospect. Justin Hilliard was a 5*, #33 overall. Keandre Jones was a 4*, #98. The only guy who wasn't at least a 4* is Harrison. Nobody is stepping up though.

That’s fine, but those guys aren’t your starters and it isn’t like you have seniors starting at LB.

They were beat out by Werner, Borland and Harrison to even be a starter. That isn’t on a position coach, that is on the athlete.

That's my point though. We have elite guys who aren't living up to their potential. Regardless of semantics, it's obvious OSU has more talent on paper at LB than every team in the nation outside of maybe 4-5. It's the coaches' jobs to coach this talent up, and Davis isn't doing shit with it.
