Good game guys. Your defense really gave us fits. Looked like an AFC North game there for a while. Too many dropped passes by our all-pro wr's, so many injuries this year have hamstrung us. Our defense lost its #1 and #2 CB, Geno Stone at Safety was one of the worst free agent pickups we have made in a while. Our oline was limping in that game Saturday with injuries all up and down th board, and it showed with your pass rush.
However, several of your posters are correct on a couple different things. Chase is about to get paid, and now both Burrow and Chase are putting front office on notice that they want Higgins back. Not sure if that means Burrow is restructuring or what, but gonna be hard to pay 3 guys over 100 million a year, with a defense struggling as much as they are. Paying a top tier QB is hard for the team budget.
Also, don't think we are #1 in offense, but I haven't checked lately to be honest. However, that is one area we have done well with. When you have a QB as smart and as accurate as Burrow, if you have weapons around him, opposing defenses are screwed for the day because you can't cover everyone all day. You may succeed a series or three, or take a player out of a game plan, but this offense is going to score points on any defense. Some defenses may match up well and limit points, but it is really hard to limit a Burrow led offense to less than 20 points.
You guys did a great job Saturday, it was frustrating, your pass rush was the best we have seen regardless of our oline injuries. That is the only way to limit Burrow is to get to him fast and put pressure on him to throw before he wants. He is really good at moving around in the pocket though because he had to be with our bad olines last few years. He will not be an MVP this year because of our record and what Lamar, Allen and Goff are doing, mostly Lamar, but he is one of the, if not the best passing QB's in the NFL.
The Bengals stand little chance of making the playoffs at this point. You guys play a KC team probably resting starters. I will be honest and it is really no slight against you, but KC has Denver's number when starters play lately, and yes, that is because Denver hasn't had great teams and KC is putting out a dynasty, but if I was KC I almost rest my starters on purpose to get Denver in the playoffs as the #7 seed over Cincinnati. Who would you rather see as a potential matchup in the playoffs as KC? Denver who they have beat like 14 out of last 16 times at home, or Cincinnati who has faced you twice in the AFC Championship game lately, split with you and been your biggest adversary? Denver has to get past Buffalo first anyways, a team Cincinnati beat the crap out of in the playoffs a couple years ago.
I am just saying, you can play like crap and I can see enough "bad coaching, dropped passes, miscommunication, lack of starters" getting in the way for KC to win that game this week. You may be able to play your worst game of the season and still win by 7.
