Zac Taylor was the worst coach last night.
but Payton was right behind him.

Payton admitted he didn’t know that Bengals didn’t punt all game

shouldn't that type of detail be known when the decision to go for 2 was being debated?

last week gifting the Chargers 3 points knowing they had the ball to start the 2nd half then i believe the two points was the best play to go to the playoffs then knowing a tie was also like a win to call timeout on the bengals missed FG drive was mind boggling.

going back to the KC game plenty of game film on the lineman getting pushed back.

hed have to win a playoff game for me to not assume he can.

We need a real RB. A true threat. What we have now is hodgepodge cluster that’s easily identified and easier to defend. After that, we need a real TE. One that doesn't look like they’re running in quicksand. Those should be our first 2 picks in this upcoming draft
Problem with that in a hard cap league is it tends to take away from more vital areas like defense and OL. THEN AGAIN I don't know how Philadelphia does it. Really don't get it. How they're able to pay all of the skill position along with the ginormous contract of Hurts.

Can anyone explain it to me? Along with a very good OL despite Kelce retiring. A very good defense, High priced WRs.

I'd really like to know. I use to think I understand the cap, but I'm realizing I'm clueless.

I’d disagree that we don’t need to upgrade our skill positions. Look at the Bengals yesterday. At WR their #1 is better than our #1, their #2 is better than our #2 and maybe better than our #1. Their #3 is better than our #3. Their TE, though not great, is better than anything we have at TE. Yesterday for our D it was pick your poison, Stop Chase? Ok, we’ll throw underneath to the TE. Cover the TE with a CB? Of, we’ll throw a 50 yard TD to Yiursoviscious, ;), that was called back. Cover Tee Higgins, ok, here Chase Brown catch this for another first down. Yes, it was frustrating, but it’s why they are the #1 O in the NFL. Lots of legit weapons that make it really hard to defend.

On D, I expect to see an upgrade at LB and Safety. We could have used Josey Jewell this year - but I’m hoping we get a speed LB that can be a cover guy as well as a great tackler.

Losing Jewell hurt more than I imagined it would. We definitely need an upgrade there.

The building blocks are in place. This team is on the rise. They're getting close.

Look how often Burrow went to his tight end when the receivers were covered. The Broncos need to figure out the tight end position and make it a staple of the offense. Payton has a good history with tight ends in his offensive schemes. I continue to think this is a top priority.

I think Estime and McLaughlin are pretty good but we're going to need that RB1 that can put up 100+ yards any given week. Keep loading up the defense on draft day as well.

Our time in purgatory is coming to an end.

The problem with the Bengals is their defense is horrible and that is mainly due to the contracts of Burrow and the wideouts. Their offense is truly amazing and the reason they're fighting for the playoffs is that defense has been horrible most of the year.

Very similar how the Saints teams with Brees were 7 and 9 three straight seasons. Despite Brees basically passing for 5000 yards each of those seasons. His contract hamstrung them. Paid big money to him the wideouts, Kamara and very productive and 7 and 9.

That's a problem. There was also a reason Rodgers also went to one super bowl, Despite great production. That one SB year that defense was dynamic. Gave up 15 PPG.

That's why I'm mystified how the Eagles can do it. Even the Chiefs had to give up on Tyreek Hill. They allocated their funds to get Chris Jones and the last 3 seasons it has been as much about that defense as it is about Mahomo. In fact they won back to back after not paying Hill and about to win their third in a row while Hill really isn't winning much in Miami.

The Bengals defense was definitely horrible the first 12 weeks of the year. But the last four weeks it has turned it around and in those games is top 10.

Good post here.

ILB is a major need on defense. Strnad was an ok stop gap for awhile but he and Barton are both stop gaps. Strnad has not played well the last 3 or 4 games.

Our starting S's especially Brandon Jones is good but we have no depth there.

We need a real #1 WR

If Sutton was our #2 and Mims and Franklin were our deep guys/screen guys we would have a really good core with Vele adding depth. Sutton is not a #1 WR. He is a good #2 and Mims and Franklin are really good when used the right way.

We need TE help obviously and we need a RB with speed/power combination to go with Estime. A type of RB that makes Estime better.

Jaleel had a good game yesterday but we can't count on him to be the guy. We have some RB's that do some stuff but we don't have that RB that is a combination of everything.

Jewell was a huge loss on defense for us especially with Singleton going down.

We won't draft OL early because there is no need to draft OL early. OL isn't a position you draft early if you are fine across the board with your starting unit unless someone's contract is about to end which it isn't.

I wonder how many people realize how good McGlinchey has been this year, allowing 0 QB pressures with a guy behind him that proved he can start if needed as well. We aren't drafting OL early this year minus something unexpected happening this offseason. It shouldn't come up in discussion. You aren't gonna draft an OL early to sit. Pay attention!

ILB, TE, young S, A #1 WR that compliments the other solid WR's we have and I wouldn't even be opposed to one more CB. We really need 4 good CB's in today's NFL. We have some options there if Abrams-Draine continues to shine so it really depends on our feeling towards him. Not a position WE HAVE To draft but always a position we should be open to.

Yeah, we really lost to a team on the road that is better and further along then us right now. Nobody should be that mad, disappointed? Sure!

We are winning games that are very winnable this year, the down side is we aren't winning game that you wish we would win but aren't exactly better then the teams we are losing to. Would have been nice to beat the Chargers once but this team really is improved no matter how much people want to whine.. Expectations were set higher once our record got better. I get it but we are still a young team learning how to win and close out games, play with a lead and play from behind... It is part of the process with the type of team we have built.

Things are good.

I believe the going for 2 was due to the fact that Denver also clinched a playoff spot if they tied so taking it to overtime at least gave us two out of three options to clinch a spot, we just happened to fail at both.

I have no problem going for 1 there.

Would be different if the game wasn't important to us.

Most coaches will tell you that when you fight your way and come from behind that they don't want to make the decision to let it all come down to 1 play based on their coaching decision. They want to give the players the ability to continue to fight their way back. Probably a good moment for a young team had they won that game to find a way to win after looking almost dead. It just didn't work out. Had we gone for 2 and got it, it would be great... Had we not gotten it most coaches in that situation feel like they let the team down going for a 50/50 success rate when they had climbed their way back a couple of time to tie that game up.

Of course, if we could go back I would have gone for 2 now knowing we were going to end up losing but I have ZERO issues kicking the XP there. Same thing I would have done.

Remember, fans have fan mindsets. Coaches have coaching mindsets. Big difference.

i’m 100% sure when Payton went for 2 there he wasn’t imagining Denver would go 3 and out the only two possessions they got in overtime

Bo now has 25 TD passes (30 TDs total). He is now one behind Peyton and Russell Wilson for third place for TD passes by a rookie. Especially impressive that he had zero TD passes in the first three games and only one after four games.
He’s also tied with Russ for third all-time in most total touchdowns by a rookie QB

Im getting a little tired of the conservative play calling on offense. There’s a time and place for it. Let Bo cook
