This could be "Death by inches"
Denver averaged 4.8 inches per play in the 2nd half.

The 4.8 inches per play is sobering, yes, and it will be looked back upon as a low point ..

I know facts don't fit neatly with overly dramatic message board banter, but the fact that the Broncos are staring a QB who wasn't even on the roster during training camp and didn't sign with the team until two days after the final preseason game plays a major role here ..

Maybe some actually watched the game ?? .. Saw the wind conditions, and realize that a QB like Brandon Allen - who I would not say has a big arm - he's going to fail in those situations ..

I think the plan going into the season was to have Flacco start and Lock be #2 … How many NFL teams, no matter how good they are, are going to win games with the 3rd option at QB ??

Yes, 4.8 inches will give everyone a chuckle … but is anyone seriously saying that Courtland Sutton, Phillip Lindsay, Noah Fant, or Royce Freeman are laughable prospects ?? .. Dalton Risner is out there on offense too, and he's one of the best young guards in the game … This, along with the fact that Mike Munchak is here, is where there is some optimism on offense .. and if Lock shows anything, every single name mentioned above have been with the Broncos for one full season or less ...

The bigger picture is Vic Fangio, and what he will do with this team ..

While it is hard to pin down what exactly you call label his defense, and Fangio himself has stated that labeling defenses as "3-4" or "4-3" is basically pointless, what Vic traditionally employs is 3-4 personnel in a 404 front ..

Did Vic inherit lineman that fit what he wants to do ?? … You think Adam Gotsis is a good fit for Vic's defense ??

All of a sudden, we bring in a guy like Mike Purcell and he's immediately a force on the DL ..

How many people here felt Purcell would be play a significant role ??

Same goes for AJ ..

How about Bausby before he was hurt ?? …

We had a team full of players - STARTERS - and Vic arrives, takes some afterthought guys who actually fit what he does and turns them into difference makers ...

Give Vic a full off-season or two, let him bring in players that fit what he does .. Not Vance Joseph castoffs or 30+ year old players who think it is still 2015 ...

As much flak as the OL has justifiably taken, the games are won on the lines, and that includes D line ..

Does anyone really think Vic's defense can be judged on 10 games with inherited players that does quite fit his vision ??

There is a lot to be excited about with this team, and looking at 2020, it will really begin to take shape ..
