I would like to see a speed element added to our offense. At least 1 speed wr to take the top off the defense and 1 speedy RB to go outside. With our WR's being possession guys that can run block well, I think a few mid to low priced specialist types to fill them rolls would be ideal and effective. Yes we have many needs, but a speed element for our offense could be had in the later rounds or in FA. I don't want big money spent on this, but we need this to free up BM & AJ more. Defenses are not to worried about us deep and we need to change that. While not at the top of our list this could be done cheaply and increase production for our main WRs.

I thought we had the speedy running back in Carey, they ran plays like a power back would get. Pretty sure that base is covered if he ever gets on the field.

Uh, I don't remember ever thinking Carey was a speedy back.

His timed speed sure was slower than he appeared to play in college, but he was more of a grinder to me. Get those tough yards on 3rd@2 that Forte just doesn't seem to get. What we were looking for with Barber and the rest of the backups we've cycled in.

Hey it's a slow time and not much to talk about that has not been beat to death. I'm not sure why adding a speed element with role type players is not being discussed with a little more interest. Is this not a good ideal? Our OC loves playing the matchup game. Teams are scooting in on our WRs and not covering the whole field.

I think it would be a good thing, I just wouldn't say that's the offense's top priority, given the following:

1) the QB
2) the offensive line still has significant holes
3) the offensive like may need to switch blocking philosophies given our O coordinator
4) we have major problems with the defensive roster

Since the Bears have all these other needs, and already have a pretty major investment at the receiver position (I am assuming Jeffery is going to get a fat extension), it's just hard for me to see them buying or drafting a speed receiver. Not out of the question, but I don't think it's likely. The only way I see a burner coming is if they somehow decide to get rid of Marshall. Maybe a trade with Miami for Mike Wallace? I doubt it, but if Marshall is here, I doubt you are going to get your wish.

Let's fix that:
1) MAJOR problems with Defensive roster. Possible switch to a 3-4 scheme.
2) Offensive Line still has significant holes
3) Offensive line may need to switch blocking philosophies given our OC.
4) Accountability for all.

24) The QB limiting his turnovers. Continue to be the best QB in Bears history. Continue his highest passer rating in his career, His highest TD passes. highest Comp.%.

Carey 5 10 205 pounds. the grinders are 215-225, I dont think grinders averaged over 2000 yards per year.

Right got it. The turnovers that were the primary cause of several losses is the #24 issue the Bears face this year. Good point. I'd certainly say the lack of cheerleaders is somewhere higher than that, no doubt. Especially for those of us who don't have posters of #6 on the ceiling above our beds.

I would have zero problems if the Bears found a speed Wr. I think Forte is perfect catching the ball out of the backfield, he's fast enough to continue successfully in this role. Carey to me is a solid back up to Forte, I wouldn't change this with all of the other issues the Bears have to fix.

Nah... when a team has two separate 3 game stretches in which they give up: 133 points and 105 points
But sure. the QB is the #1 issue on the team... that damn jerkface.

This is a defense that averaged forcing only 2.4 punts a WHOLE GAME in that 6 game stretch. In one game they didn't force the ONLY punt until the forth quarter.
That's on Jay too.

Primary? Hmm... Nah. FOF Nice story though...compelling and rich.

I dont think we saw any where near enough of knowing what Carey can do.

You got a number 24 on where number 1 should be. You can fix 23 problems and still lose without fixing number 24. Leading the league in interceptions and fumbles both has to be addressed number 1.

I would like a speed back to take advantage of our great blocking outside with our big wrs. I do understand it's not at the top of our needs.

He had 36 carries in 2014. Forte was 5th in the league in carries last season. As a team, the Bears were 30th. Carey absolutely remains an unknown quantity.

While I like the 3 reliable downfield pass catching targets they have- Id like to see more speed at the WR position, too. These guys struggled most of the season getting over the top of the secondary. Having more speed will help, but the ineffective run game of last season did very little towards keeping defenses honest. Knowing whats coming, and at a subpar rate to boot isnt going to induce the safety out of position. A little more speed, and an improved run game will benefit the entire offense.
