I said it the week after the South Dakota State game, "unfortunately for Kansas State, they're next on the schedule."

Well now, unfortunately for Oklahoma state, they're next on the schedule. Bo is going to have these guys ready to play some fuckin football.

Taylor Martinez is going to run all over the place too.

Nothing to bitch about regarding yesterday...

Won't change anything and it is what it is.

Believe me, if I let my emotions take control of my being.... and I unloaded on how I feel (just as many of you feel), it would not serve anyone in a positive way!

We have the rest of the season to go....

We all seen how things happened yesterday and we all know that a few catches here and there would have created a different outlook today.

Go Big Red!

Ok, my last bit of whining about the team performance yesterday. One really obvious point that I haven't seen mentioned (I haven't read through all the posts from today so sorry if I'm regurgitating other points) is how badly Texas' D-Line dominated our O-Line. I know folks were complaining about Martinez making incorrect reads, but when he has 2 or 3 D-lineman in his face a half second after he has the ball, all that's left for him to read is which one of these fuckers is gonna hit me the hardest.

I've already accepted that our D-Line is nowhere near as good as last year (you don't just lose the best player in college football and not take a step back) but I was very, very happy to have the O-Line healthy and playing very well this year.....until yesterday. I'm not trying to throw the O-Line under the bus, because many of their struggles yesterday goes directly to credit Texas having the players on the line to beat them, and they did. I just hadn't read anywhere anybody talking about this and thought I'd bring it up for discussion today before we all have to get over it after today. ;):p

Also, I haven't seen it argued here (because most of y'all are smarter than that) but in case someone is trying to argue that Lee moved the offense running while Martinez didn't, that was because late in the game with us down big, Texas correctly shifted their defensive philosophy to allow us the 4 or 5 yards on the run to try and take away the pass. Even so, our receivers were still getting open against a very good secondary. Too bad they couldn't catch the damn balls though. This leads to my next and final whine about the game and specifically the game plan.

Late in the game, the run opened because Texas shifted the defensive play. Early in the game, we needed more play action passes to force Texas to defend the field vertically instead of horizontally and the coaches just didn't even try it. Throw in play action pass on obvious running downs and even first down occasionally and you make Texas cover the entire field. Then the little holes that opened up late for 4-6 yards by Lee and the backs could of been explosive plays by the better running Martinez.

Overall, just a frustrating and weird game. So many mistakes by all facets of the team and coaches. Ok, that's my final whining post about that game. Now to start thinking about Okie Jr...

Regarding the O-line....... I didn't really see them get dominated by the Texas D-Line... on a zone read the first gap play side is allowed to come through like on a screen, this allows the OL to get to the next level- and sets up the "read" it is this DL that the read is made off of....

The Problem with the OL IMO yesterday is that they were to slow getting to the next level..

Agree with the play action......

I was also cussin every time we ran the inside zone read on 1st and ten........ I'm not going to re-watch the game to count- but it seemed like it was the play call on first down 9 out of 10 times....... no shit texas shut down the play..........

Let's be honest......the zone read didn't work most of the time yesterday because Texas had the speed on defense to make up for the misdirection........and a lot of the time they read our read right to begin with.

Just as the QB makes a read, the defensive end makes a read as well........also there is a thing known as the scrape exchange. Texas executed this well several times yesterday, where the defensive end breaks on the running back forcing Martinez to pull the ball and run.......Texas had the "scraping" backer right there waiting for him.
