Seeing last nights game Tampa/Boston, really makes me appreciate good defense. The Boston defense looked helpless at times, not sure whats up there. Tampa looked leaky as well.

Should be another great game tonight!

TB is a faster team than any of the remaining teams, it is clearly causing our defense to crumble a bit. But we are strong enough to match them on offense, and we have the edge in goaltending. Even though Rolie has been nothing less than amazing. TB, I believe, is our true test, we make it by them I have faith in a victorious season. :D

#Canucks winger Samuelsson (leg) will not travel to San Jose for Games 3 and 4 and is expected to have season-ending surgery.

tough break ... but he's been playing through an injury for months now so its not like they'll be missing the Samuelsson from last years Kings playoff series

He's been hurting us more than helping us when dressed so it's a good move.

Also glad to hear that Tamby gets in over Glass (if true).

I don't like Boston's chances against either team in the West. Both teams can match Boston in terms of size up front & are better defensively. Thomas has made the Bruins D look a lot better than it really is. There's a reason Chara plays over 28 minutes per game. He doesn't have much help.

We kind of dominated that game we had against Vancouver in the regular season, and SJ beat us, but didn't put a whooping on us, they look tired now.

I hope for the Bruins sake that Bergeron comes back 100% because if he doesn't the Canucks or Sharks will take full advantage. Krejci vs Kesler wouldn't be a good matchup of the B's. The Sharks could go with Thornton, Couture or Pavelski. I'm not sure how they would play it.

Playing 7 one goal games against the Red Wings will do that to you. The Sharks have only had 1 hockey game in the last 5 days. They'll look much fresher tonight.

That was an impressive game last night to be sure. Seguin looked really good. But I wouldn't claim the cup just yet. You're not even out of the Tampa series and I don't think that any team can claim they are the cup favorite at this point.

Still a lot of hockey to be played...

i wouldnt extrapolate what the results of a finals series would be based on 1 regular season game

I cant speak to the sharks game played during the reguar season but the Bruins caught the canucks on a win one lose one streak where they were kinda spinning their wheels in what was like a "dog days" part of the season for them

Sportsnets Mark Spector (Below)

This is interesting in so much that Kevin Bieksa got mocked by media for shit kicking Stalberg in the first round when Stalberg outweighs Bieksa by 20pounds and is 2 inches taller

tale of the tape
Kesler: 6'2 ... 204 pounds
Thornton: 6'4 ... 230 pounds

yet Spector tries to paint Kesler as the coward

35 NHL players are bigger than Thornton. But he's never fought anyone larger than himself (granted not many players come larger than Jumbo). Most fights vs players 20-30 lbs lighter.

You wish that Joe Thornton would just come out and say it. Say what he really thinks about Ryan Kesler's courage, and move on.

But instead, he just smiled when asked about Kesler's vow not to fight in these playoffs.

"I'm shocked," Thornton said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Very shocked."

Of course, Thornton challenged Kesler to a scrap at the opening faceoff of this Western Conference final. Kesler turned down the invitation.

"He's trying to be tough," Kesler said. "My job is to try and play in-between the whistles. I don't deal with that stuff. If he wants to fight me, I play him four times next year. He can fight me next year."

Informed that Thornton said he wasn't surprised Kesler turned him down, Kesler noted, "I'm surprised he asked me."

The history here for Kesler goes back a season, when he said in the media that then-Chicago winger Andrew Ladd was "a coward." Of course, he couldn't turn Ladd's invitation the next time the teams met, and Ladd -- a bigger, heavier man, as is Thornton -- made Kesler regret that ill-advised quote.

Now, the skate is on the other foot. Someone else is trying to get Kesler off of his game.

"That's probably going to be his job is to get under my skin, and it's not going to happen," he said of Thornton. "I've dealt with that all year. It's not a part of my game anymore.

"I've fought (Jarome) Iginla, I've fought a lot of tough guys. I fought (Ian) Lapperiere -- I'm not scared of anybody out there. I'll fight anybody. But now is not the time."

As for Game 2 game? "Maybe I'll take the opening draw,'' joked Thornton's linemate Devin Setoguchi.
