Of course, August 9th, 1988 was a very special day...
Sir Isaac Newton > Fig Newton > Wayne Newton > Wayne Gretzky
Isaac Hayes > Sir Isaac Newton > Fig Newton > Wayne Newton > Wayne Gretzky
You're damn right!
Willie Mays Hayes > Isaac Hayes > Sir Isaac Newton > Fig Newton > Wayne Newton > Wayne Gretzky
So how many times per year does Wayne actually visit his restaurant in Toronto?
Rutherford B. Hayes > Willie Mays Hayes > Isaac Hayes > Sir Isaac Newton > Fig Newton > Wayne Newton > Wayne Gretzky

back to the birthday boy:
amazing thing about Gretzky... when he retired, he held 61 NHL records.
in the 12 years since, only ONE has been broken (assists in an All-star game).
its actually most career assists in overtime (regular season) ... Lidstrom ... understandable since there was no overtime in the first 4 years of his career and the rest of the eighties didnt see the Oil go to overtime very often since they were usually trouncing teams like the canucks 6-2 every night
There have been more than 13,000 NHL games played since Gretzky retired in 1999 and he's only surrendered one of his 61 records — Nicklas Lidstrom and a handful of others now have more career assists in overtime during the regular season, no doubt aided by the change to 4-on-4 for the tiebreaker and the fact a point is now awarded to the losing team.
"If you're going to be passed, you might as well be passed by a guy that's a great player and a Hall of Famer," Gretzky, gracious as ever, said of Lidstrom
