Figured I would give it a few hours to sink in.

New name, Aint thrilled with it. Aint mad at it.

Clears the way for them to move back into DC proper (if there is space).

Guess I will order my custom jersey this weekend.

I have no doubt Snyder's ass went with Commanders in large part to leech from the military angle. Thinking he was so fucking clever. I guess it never occurred to him that "Commies" would be the most natural slang for Commanders. I bet his lackeys thought about it, but like every other lackey Snyder has had. They are far too bitch made to actually speak truth to his dumb ass. Not that it would do any good even if they did.

#Redskins
The Washington Football Team finally has their new name. After an all-out assault in 2020 slandering the Redskins name, they held an extravagant press conference on Feb. 2nd and announced the new name to be the Commanders. Yes, I said the Commanders. They replaced the great Redskins name with something straight out of an old Sega Master System video game. It’s cheap, it’s generic, it’s the Commanders. The once great Washington franchise is now dead and buried.

The media and politicians lied about the Redskins name, especially the local DC media. They ignored the 2016 Washington Post poll that revealed the majority of Native Americans aren’t offended by the Redskins name. They ignored the fact that the Redskins logo was the only logo in the NFL that was a real person and was designed by a Native American. They ignored the fact that Roy Hawthorne of the Navajo Code Talkers called the Redskins name a symbol of courage and loyalty.

So just how did we get here?

First, we have Team Owner Dan Snyder who proclaimed to be a lifelong Redskins fan. In 2013 when the media and politicians demanded Snyder change the Redskins name, he responded by saying, “We’ll never change the name. It’s that simple. NEVER. You can use caps.” It appeared the Redskins had an owner that wasn’t going to back down, or so we believed. Then everything hit the fan in 2020 after the George Floyd case. The media and politicians wildly connected the Redskins name to the death of George Floyd to force Snyder to change the name. The sponsors joined in as FedEx said it would remove its signage from the stadium if the name wasn’t changed. Nike, Walmart, and many other companies announced they would no longer sell Redskins merchandise. Sadly, it worked as Synder caved and announced in July of 2020 that the Redskins name and logo was being eliminated. He proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that he was never a Redskins fan.

Second, we have Julie Donaldson. She covered the Redskins for years on NBC Sports Washington. Then after the resignation of Larry Michael in July of 2020, she stepped in and took his place as Senior VP of Media for the Washington Football Team. Suddenly she attacked the Redskins name, declaring it to be a slur and said it must be changed. It was shocking to witness but apparently she had no problem selling the Redskins and Redskin fans down the river to further her career.

Third, that deals with Head Coach Ron Rivera. He was hired in 2020 to be the new Head Coach of the Washington Redskins. I thought at the time it was a great hire. He talked the talk, assuring us all he was committed to restoring the great Redskins legacy. But that all changed just a few months later in July when the Redskins name was eliminated. Rivera wouldn’t stand up and support the name. Instantly he reversed course and said it was time to change the name. I then realized I was wrong. If Rivera wouldn’t stand up and support the Redskins name, how would he be able to lead a team? I knew then that Rivera was a fraud.

Fourth, that brings me to Jason Wright. He was hired in August of 2020 to be the President of the Washington Football Team. He too has spoken out against the Redskins name. Last year he sent out a survey asking fans what the new name should be. Unfortunately, the fans voices were ignored as Wright and Snyder continued with their plan for a new name and revealing to all that they don’t care about the fans.

Finally, we have Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. She has also called for the name change, yet in June of 2019 she met with Redskins rookies for a photo-op. There was Mayor Bowser with the rookies who were wearing Redskins attire. She had no problem with the Redskins name on that day. Now she is begging the Commanders to build a new stadium in Washington DC. She is your typical two-faced politician, fitting perfectly in Washington.

The Washington Commanders have made it clear they want nothing to do with the Washington Redskins, yet they are now taking credit for the Redskins five championships and great Redskins players of the past. They have now resorted to selling jerseys of the late, great Sean Taylor even though he never played for the Commanders. The audacity of these people is astounding.

Many of the former players have come out in support of the Commanders and denounced the Redskins name. Dok Walker, Brian Mitchell, Darrell Green among others supported the name change. Some have done it because they want to further their careers no matter who they sell down the river, much like Julie Donaldson, others because they have fallen for the lies and slander of the Redskins name. Sadly, their actions have led to the death of an iconic franchise.

It has forced me to no longer watch the NFL, as I haven’t watched a game since 2019. I’ll never watch again, and I won’t settle for a cheap imitation. I love the Washington Redskins. I have the NFL on blackout. They can take the Commanders and stick it. I’ll always Hail to the Redskins!

From a former fan not me

Some internal polling , fuck the fans again
Naw, fans are just paying customers, you never hear other businesses (when noting how much people love them) ever refer to these folks as anything more than "customers." Being a "fan" especially one that believes that he or she actually has input, puts those fans at a distinct disadvantage because of their emotional tie to the product. (I wrote about this in another thread about the differences between a "fan," "follower." and/or "supporter." For as much as people "love" their team, internal decisions aren't generally made based on input from the outside unless there's a monetary connection to such outside input. "Fans," because of their emotional ties will often say, or make statements on forums like this one akin to "we pay their salaries, buy their merchandise and fill their stadium seats," et.al but the truth of it is... it's no different than any other business in that it's a one-to-one relationship. That relationship goes like this, here's our product, you pay to get it! Show me where there's an emotional tie to that stark reality! As noted, I separated myself from "fandom" years ago and proudly wear the mantle as a follower/supporter! Now, why is this important? Well, as a better long-term strategy on how you manage both your life and finances, you could actually become a lot more healthy and wealthy controlling both.

The biggest issue that I have concerning the uniforms is that helmet! What on earth were they thinking or not thinking when designing that thing. The name is Commanders and the most prominent billboard for displaying the same is on the side of the helmet. You can literally go to your local Home Depot/Lowes/ hardware store and buy that exact "W" stencil for a couple of bucks. How difficult could it have been to come up with an image that actually represents something in the commander family of things? It took me less than five minutes to find this!

1643990369767.png How's this as a replacement for that awful "W?"

BTW; On that little padding on the front of the helmet, they could actually imprint the name "Commanders" in gold or burgundy instead of that awful "W." Thoughts???

I’m with you on this. The W seems like it was probably RR influenced and I don’t like it or the numbers

Is he stupid or is he lying ( again )

the funny thing is you can't buy a new white commanders jersey at the pro shop on the official website? They are only selling the maroon. plus, you can't buy a black jersey. Why??? Of course, the color is not even close. I like the name and helmet logo, but the jerseys are going to take some time for the me and the fans to get used to.
