Thank God, a voice of reason. I was about to puke listening to Joe T, Clark and BMitch talking about how we should all like the Commanders name.

I couldn't imagine wearing a Commanders jersey with 44 on it.
I would never!

This has always been our position! The use of ACTUAL tribal names, monikers such as "Scouts" "Braves" sans the caricature, "Warriors" et.al would have all been accepted. Re-read paragraph 2 which offers clarity to the same. What is not supported are names and caricatures that denigrate such as the one formerly held by Washington in name and Cleveland in design. I personally knew of no one that opposed the Washington logo, Snyder could have continued to use that and substitute the name for one that met what is supported in paragraph 2 above.
Apparently not , according to MR. Wright

Okay, Riggins just passed Monk on my all-time list with this. Still hold 84 at #1.

Exactly how I feel everything I cared about stolen from me by cowards. Total disenfranchisement

Certain species of sharks are known to eat dolphins, though which makes a dolphin not an apex predator, though I agree with you that it's not that simple. Killer whales are definiltely apex predators, though the killer whale is not the dolphin depicted on the Dolphin's helmet.

You will absolutely feel diferrently as the years roll on for the same reason that you accept that Packers and Browns and Texans Cardinals and Seahawks are legitimate names.

Sorry, that's just human nature.
Killer whales eat dolphins, leopard seals, manta rays, moray eels and sharks. All of whom are apex predators. Giant otters are apex predators. Wolves, cougars. bears are apex predators. Lions, tigers, hyenas, leopards/jaguars, African wild dogs, Crocodiles, alligators, caiman, boas, pythons. The common house cat is an apex predator. The only species in the world that kills more living creatures than a house cat are humans. Little evil fuckers.

And sure, In a couple seasons the Commanders name will sound normal or whatever. It'll still be stupider than fuck n lame as shit, but it will sound normal and won't make me want to spit on someone's haircut.

Apparently not , according to Mr. Wright.

First, Mr. Wright doesn't speak for us and he's not speaking to or for most people on this board. The name change has nothing at all to do with a demographic older than the 18-34 and younger age groups that represent the present and future of this organization's base. This name "Commanders" wasn't a popularity pick either, but one designed to move forward despite older fans' objections. Where's the money? certainly not with us older folks who hold on to (and sometimes create) memories of a time gone by with fondness befitting, no one except those who choose to look back instead of forward.

I know that it's harsh, but think about it, the last heyday for Washington football was 31 years ago, or to put in more stark terms 9 years after Jason Wright was born. Joe Theesman, Gary Clark, and B. Mitch all know what I know about looking forward and although I'm probably the second oldest person on this board, realize that no matter the name, the players that we choose to root or not root for right now, are the ages of our children and grandchildren, and are looking to make their own marks and have jerseys sold with their names on them, new name included. I understand the angst, new things can give a sense of indigestion to those resistant to it, but at what point do we realize that venting our frustrations, must, out of necessity, have its time and place, but ultimately becomes nothing more than another version of a previous generation's lament... "I remember back in 19 hunert and..."

This is our board, the expressions posted here are meant to we who currently hold membership and all who welcome themselves by contribution. However, if it is the past that some choose to hold on to, take heed of these words offered by someone from that past... "The future is now!!"

There was no compromise, the groups protesting it , the ones they listened to , wanted everything gone . I think RR and Wright wanted it gone , 20 minutes after the retired name was announced

Not to be argumentative, but the people that they listened to obviously are ones who refused to separate the logo from the name. You posted our position and it was clear that what we wanted was a name change. Snyder and Co. could have easily rebranded using a tribal name and kept the logo. Every statement to that effect has been clear for decades. It is not the fault of protester's that idiots weren't able or willing to make that distinction.
