See, this is the thing. Smart cap management, especially when it's the hard thing to do, is the gift that keeps on giving in the NFL.
The part that makes me hopeful is this: Jerry wasn't personally going to make less money by letting Ware stay on. He had nothing personal to loose or to gain by keeping or releasing Ware (except his reputation, but that's a whole different story). What he did in releasing Ware is let the Cowboys gain, and that is a major step in the right direction.
As I said before, it remains to be seen if he did it for the right reason. We shall see over the next several weeks.
I hope he does the right thing ....
Even if it means taking a step back now to take two forward in 2 years.
