See, this is the thing. Smart cap management, especially when it's the hard thing to do, is the gift that keeps on giving in the NFL.

The part that makes me hopeful is this: Jerry wasn't personally going to make less money by letting Ware stay on. He had nothing personal to loose or to gain by keeping or releasing Ware (except his reputation, but that's a whole different story). What he did in releasing Ware is let the Cowboys gain, and that is a major step in the right direction.

As I said before, it remains to be seen if he did it for the right reason. We shall see over the next several weeks.

:hope:

I hope he does the right thing ....

Even if it means taking a step back now to take two forward in 2 years.

Wish Demarcus Ware nothing but the best Class act all the time he was here.

Jerry finally showing looking at the big picture ? Hope so

Tough decision but the right 1 if restructure was not going to work out for both sides

Cheers Demarcus Good luck :suds:

The NFLN claims Austin is a goner too, but Dallas will wait until June 1 to make it official. I think most of us saw this as likely, although it makes you wonder what their short term and long term plans at the position are.

There is always the possibility that this is to let Ware set his value and Jerry re signs him for something in that neighborhood. I am happy with the move (hate to see him go just because of what he has meant to the team), no one is going to over pay for Ware. Just a thought, after all this is Jerry.

Supposedly deep draft for WR.

I wanted him to stay but some of the numbers I saw posted here really made the case that it was best for the team to let him go. Frugal Jerry? ..who knew.

did you see the contract Cleveland gave 33 year old Carlos Dansby?
Dansby agreed to a four-year, $24 million deal that includes $14 million guaranteed.

D Ware will find the money

Apparently the Jets are interested in Ware, and they have plenty of money to spend.

Just saying it might be Jerry's hope. Jared Allen and Peppers are out there too.
