in my league we need 10 starts a week. I have plenty of pitching but could always use more..

Out of these remaining Waiver Wire Pitchers (only waiver, no FA) who should I pick?:

Chris Tillman
Yovani Gallardo
Jonathan Niese
Jeff Locke
Drew Huchinson
C.J. Wilson
Chris Heston
Mike Pelfrey
Colby Lewis
Charlie Morton
Chris Young
Jake Peavy

A lot of it is going to depend on oppononets and home parks. ]

Especially with a crew of low strikeout pitchers like this.

Overall Peavy and CJ wilson are your best bets.

But Wilson isnt' 100% healthy right now IIRC and Peavy is probably only advisable if he's pitching at home or at Petco with his peripherals. Sure you might miss a good start in other places, but if you have plenty of pitching a guy like him who can spot start is probably ideal.

Yeah that's what I was thinking on both pitchers.

What about Niese?

I hate having to chose pitchers based on the ball parks... Makes it even harder for me... But that is an excellent point @The Q

I'm OK gambling on niese but watch his Ks. They've dropped off with all his injuries the last few years. He's not much without them

I don't think I could recommend any of these guys long term.

Hutch has the most long term upside if he could ever remove his head from his rectum.

Yeah...long term, Hutch still has upside. I like taking a shot with Niese in the short term. Pirates like groundball pitchers and maybe Searage can work a little voodoo.

Here's the beginners guide to ballparks.

Guys throwing in SF, SD or SEA are totally ideal.

Some parks are pitchers parks that have great offenses (see LAD). But park factor is historically a pretty good indication.

But also consider the offense they're facing.

Niese historically makes a good gamble. If they can get his K's back up, with that team, that's a solid rebound guy. But still not a top level arm.

Nah, but in that group, who is? Hutch with the potential, and CJ...with whatever problem he has these days. :noidea:

very true... Those 3 are certainly pitchers parks. Isn't Oakland a fairly decent pitchers park too?

I dont see Shane Green on that list

But he had a terrific spring, was just named to the Tigers staff and was hitting 97 on the gun

I like his upside more than anyone on that list

Yes Oakland is another good place.

If you stay there, that's home. You'll be pretty solid. It's not perfect, but those are always good plays.

Alright I'll look for guys who pitch in those stadiums (home or just have starts as well)
