All windbag dipoto talked about when he first came here was building things right, then shortly into it he went into win now mode with a team that was about 5% ready. Now hes really going to try? whatever. That pissed away a bunch of time. If they don't trade Diaz i bet he ends up with a sore elbow in spring training and we never hear from him again. Its what this dumb ass team does.

They talk Mariners at about the 16:50 mark. Reminder, the bald guy (Booth) worked for M's under GMZ.

Extra Bases with Bristol & Booth (Episode 1.26) November 6

Kind of essentially what Angels fans and their beat writers all said when Jerry was hired. It’s real hard as a fan to trust a dude who took a mid 20’s farm system when he took over and made it a laughing stock without ever making a World Series let alone a wild card play in game

Looks like Zunino and Heredia are the first ones off the launching pad. Although I don't completely dislike the trade, this is also typical mariners. Check out previous hot stoves: the catchers are the first commodity gobbled up. So what do we do? We trade ours. LOL.

Trader Jerry got rid a boatload of talents for few vet players here and there because he was probably pressured into a “win now” mode. Few years later with nothing to show for they are considering blowing things up.

Well shit, this sounds very much like the M’s.

Also... keeping a few guys I understand as guys like Haniger was a good trade. Diaz on the other hand can go he’s a closer and not that hard to replace especially when you are rebuilding

Goodbye Zilchino. I couldn't wait for this day. Cant win with the scubs we had to have to cycle them out.

I get that, but you can't continue to miss on top 10 picks year after year.

I mean he’s TB best investment so far in terms of dealing with the M’s. Smyly didn’t throw a single pitch for the M’s and now Zunino is gone to bring Mallex back.

Dip is gonna try to bring back all the guys he traded previously but only to realize costly old again veteran players are not as intriguing as the farm he blew up.

Very M’s like.

I would have preferred the Kiermier scenario but the Mariners usually don’t give me what I want so whatever

Smith is younger and cheaper which are two very important things for M's. Plus, you always want to bring home guys that were a part of your organization and gave their all...

Yeah, I’m so confused with this deal. This isn’t tearing it down as they don’t receive anything that will help their farm system but creates the same log jam Jerry said he wanted figured out by spring. Smith in CF, Gordon at 2B and Cano at DH isn’t rebuilding.

Believe I read somewhere could be mlb trade rumors that the rays are also adding in low end prospect

Update: teams are also swapping minor league prospects. Rays receiving a pitcher and M’s an outfielder

Appears to be low level prospect for the M’s

Smith is younger and cheaper, but in a way it is more expensive because they have to go find a FA catcher now. I don’t hate the deal just doesn’t really make sense or give clarity on the earlier reports of them rebuilding. Smith is a starter for the M’s so they are essentially in the same spot as last year.
