I'll believe it when I see it......maybe. A few more years to build a team?? Maybe Oakland will move to Portland and I can have a real team to follow. Portland is only a couple hour drive- or maybe I'll just enjoy the Tacoma Rainiers. LOL Hope they get rid of Jerry and Scott in the process. :pound:

Great...except DIPoto would be the one rebuilding and from what I have seen so far he is no contractor. More of duct tape sort of guy.

Most likely he’s gone next offseason in this scenario. It’s no secret that Jerry was hired to make the current roster work. 3 years and no playoffs has to be considered a failure in that aspect. My bar for this front office is so incredibly low that the fact that this is even being mentioned is a start for me

Yeah, nothin says rebuild like holding on to 3 of the biggest trade chips you have let alone one is a closer

I get holding onto Haniger, but a closer on a rebuilding team makes no sense (which is the M's way).

I can understand Haniger too but outside Paxton he’d get the most back. But don’t at all understand keeping Diaz nor now with the hire of that analytics guy why would they keep onto Marco? If they can get anything for him it seems better than just having him go and throw 4 innings.

But I hate analytics people running the sport, to me, you fill out the back end of the rotation, the situational guys in the bullpen and the bottom tier of your position players. Not construct your entire franchise around that philosophy. The Cubs and Astros are credited with using analytics during their rebuild but I firmly believe 99% of their success is because they got and developed all stars not because of playing the percentages.

Marco we kept for super cheap, that's the reason to keep him

Yeah, that's just it. I don't mind a fire sale. I just question if Dipoto is the right guy to architect it. In the years that he has spent running the Angels and Mariners, he has no experience at all in this area.
